Keep up the writing Jimmy. I don't agree with a lot of what you write, but I don't read HovkeyBuzz for TSN-like articles. I like HockeyBuzz because it gives me a taste of other people's views/opinions. Even if I completely disagree with them, I like being exposed to other people's perspective on hockey topics,

I am entertained by your work, and is that not the point of a blog? I respect the fact that you take the time to read and reply to comments....which cannot be easy when even the slightest typo will be repeatedly pointed out.

Like I said, I don't often agree with you, but I am always curious to see what you have to say, and how you will say it. It's fun! That concept just seems complete lost on people.

Now I will sit back and wait for responses on my comment which will point out typos, errors in grammer, and why my opinion is wrong.

Now Meltzer is considered a great hockey writer. Jesus
This whole thing is childish beyond belief.

- shack67

He is an official writer for the team he covers and contributes to NHL.com and has written books about hockey, so yeah i would consider Bill pretty legit

It's been greatly entertaining reading this. If he had just said "Hextall had a number of flaws and probably deserved to be fired", I'd probably agree with him. The doubling down on it like he was Mel Bridgeman running the Senators is funny.
- 2sticks1puck

So your criticism is that I explained myself instead of offering only general complaints? I don't like Hextall but I certainly found it refreshing to actually talk hockey with Bill rather than just bicker with bored people.

He's got some good points, I just don't happen to agree with all of them. I'm honestly not sure what all the fuss is about and I don't really think its healthy that there doesn't appear to be room for multiple viewpoints.

In the NHL today you've got to be all in on analytics and you've got to act aggressively and take risks.

I don't think Hextall does that.

For sure, Bill is a great writer. He's also a nice guy and (I assume) a gentleman. But I criticize professional general managers for a living, so I clearly am above an appeal to authority, since it follows that Ron Hextall knows more about hockey than either Bill or I.

So clearly the objective truth cannot be arrived from whose credentials are more impressive, or there wouldn't even be a hockey writing industry.

But that said Bill >>>>>> Tanner all day long. You won't get an argument from me about that. I mean guys, come on, I recently wrote a hard-hitting ranking of the ten best cereals of the 1990s.

The criticism is that you exposed yourself with your comments to prove that you're really uninformed about Hextall. Which pretty much de-legitimizes your opinion on him. It's just more of analysis from afar, able to only use analytics or other stats to opine on the NHL as a whole.

Ek thinks Yzerman is still running the Lightning. I don’t care how much money he has. And everyone even remotely associated with the nhl has written a book. That doesn’t mean they’re good writers.

If you actually worked in any kind of analytics field, you would know how foolish a statement that is. Data analytics is a resource, but is only ever as good as the people using it to make real decisions. There's also nothing innately good about being aggressive or taking risks if they're bad decisions. Like, for instance, giving up on players like Strome and Domi for no particular reason.

This goes to Tanner's belief that analytics are more than they actually are.

They hate me so much they are pretending Ron Hextall was a good GM. Give me a few days, they'll be certain that Chiarelli is underrated too.

It's not healthy. You and the rest of your liberal twit friends SHOULD allow for multiple viewpoints. But you don't/won't. Instead you'll just stay triggered and call everyone who even mildly disagrees with you a racist bigot. You claim to be all in for discussion, until the discussion starts. People like you are not interested in fostering diversity, just making sure that you have the loudest voice in the room. Much like a 2 year old throwing a tantrum.

You still haven't answered my question.

Oh no, Tanner wishes there was room for a diversity of views.

Yet he routinely makes outlandish and extreme statements that don't allow for any opposing view, unless said person is obviously wrong.

Do you not see the irony in this? Do you not see the double-standards you spew on a daily basis?

So Hextall is a bottom of the barrel GM because he couldn't take his team above 3rd place. But Chayka is the GM that everyone should dream of for...random arbitrary reasons. Contracts to Schmaltz (potential 90+ point player), Dvorak, and Chychrun were brilliant decisions because it's simply a GM betting on his own players as he anticipates them to improve. But when Nashville bets on Colton Scissons its a "foolish contract that will hurt the team".

Face it. You are being exposed by readers, and now respected colleagues, for being uninformed and in many cases intolerant or offensive.

Because that's his schtick.

He's trying to make a living by writing about hockey, yet he has only a rudimentary grasp of the game.

So he purposely makes outlandish statements to rile people up.

I'd like to tell you it's not working, but well, here we are.

So my advice to everyone who comes on here to tell Tanner they hate him and wish he would stop blogging: stop coming on here and telling him to stop blogging.

Every time you type a little hissy fit, it puts another dollar in Tanner's pocket.

I can't franking believe I have to point this out.

No legit hockey writer would be caught dead on here. Don’t you read what ek writes? He’s the Donald Trump of the hockey world. He makes up his own rumours and alot of times he gets the names and teams mixed up.
And then Meltzer shows up with “editor” by his name. Any credibility he had is now toast.
