I gave the flyers blog a quick read and I discovered the angry guys posting here are also angry in their own thread. Go figure. |

Do you even know that some of the former writers on HB are now on some of the more mainstream sports news?
Tyler Yost started here
Eric Engels started here.
And those are only the ones I can think of off the top of my head. - braidan
That’s what I just said. They use this site as a springboard. |

And how do you think potential landing sites judge them?
Number of hits on their blog.
Most of the hits on EE's blogs were from regular chit chat and had nothing to do with his blog after page 2 lol. |

We shouldn't take it personally when tanner says something ridiculously inaccurate because he's going to use the blog hits to leverage himself into a better job? |

Yeah, no. This is not true.
Hits are definitely important.
But no "credible" (i.e., traditional, high-paying) site is going to hire someone who is consistently mocked by the readership. It pulls down the credibility of the site.
This is what I find so sad about Tanner's work: he desperately wants to break through to the big time, but he doesn't realize that being the clown prince of hockey blogging is never, ever going to get him the big dollars.
But hey, what do I know? Jimmy's better off ignoring my advice. I mean, 8 years as the Coyotes blogger - that's an upward trajectory, right? |

every transaction this team does has been a failure
Traded Strome - fail
Traded Duclair - fail
Max Domi - fail
and now they traded for Mr. Street Meat
Kessel is the ultimate pant load
but the best for last
Should never have left the Peg.....
Please sell this team to someone in Quebec City and fire the GM still in diapers

Time will tell on the first 3 trades.
Kessel trade was a good one.
Younger GM’s are the way to go.

I think trading up in the draft is one of the single dumbest things a GM can do. - James_Tanner
So when Hextall traded up to select Konecny...Tanner claims this is the single dumbest thing a GM can do.
Hmm, care to comment on that one time Chayka traded up to select Chychrun?? There was video of Ken Holland and Kris Draper giggling after they swindled Chayka. So he got Chychrun. Wings took Cholowski and Hronek. Haha. So was that also a dumb move Tanner? Or was it magically smart because...well, Chayka. |

How was trading Duclair a 'fail'? Dude has not stuck with anyone unless I have missed something. |

I guess my problem is that you either trade Girioux and Voracek in their primes and stack your system , or you trade the future to get them help now. But he couldn't pick a lane - which ultimately got him fired.
When you look at how the Leafs, Avs and Rangers tore it down and rebuilt in such short time periods, I just don't think anyone should be defending Hextall. The more I read about him, the more info I get the worse he seems. - James_Tanner
Jimmy I am here for pure entertainment purposes only.
Whether he should have traded those 2 or built around them is a valid point imo. In a sense yes they have wasted away the prime years. Also keep in mind clode put up 73, 67, and 58 points in 3 straight season and was showing some decline. So not sure there was a market for him at all; though the last 2 years he has emerged as a top end winger. I dont think anyone saw that coming; at least not to this extent. Same with Jake in a sense as well. Me I would have looked into moving Jake this summer as rather move him early than later if he regresses. Why hasnt boy wonder traded OEL as wasting his prime no?
What have those teams really torn down? They got lucky with high picks and free agents, Traded a few vets but not all. Remember luck plays the biggest part no...
Hextall did use analytics and has said so; wasnt the be all end all though nor should it be.
That is not what got him fired Jimmy. You are incorrect. He will get another shot as he should. He did some stuff very well, other stuff not so well.
Also Jimmy very disappointed in you as Franson has signed a PTO with the leafs organization and you havent dedicated a blog to it. When you add a top pairing dman on a PTO that is headline news. |

Yes incredible that I would change my mind three years later. I think it's better obviously to remain consistent, even if you're wrong. |

No, it's not incredible that someone would change their mind and have an opinion evolve or change over time. For most people. That's not what happened here. You made an off the cuff response to a post to try and support your uninformed opinion on Hextall. All the while having a complete lack of self awareness of what you stated in the past. The language is telling. Chayka is a genius for trading up to get Chychrun. Then state that trading up in the draft is about the dumbest thing a GM can do. There is a wide chasm between those two points. One that points to your culpability.

Good call on Kessel, I predict the Pens do not make the playoffs and Kessel will be severely missed on the pp. As an owner for the past few years of Malkin, Letang, Guentzel, Kessel, no Crosby though. I still see Kessel as the key on the pp, he can snipe and pass as good as anyone. People still don't like the guy but I am with you, he is different maybe but one hell of a hockey player. Apparently the bottom line is while the coach is talking and teaching Kessel is tuned out shooting pucks etc. That can be a distraction for sure but on the other hand four fingers and a thumb that is Phil. |

For the record I was advocating the firing of Hextall and Hakstol 18 months before it actually happened. Unfortunately too many were reading MJL comments and were being brainwashed. Hextall is an idiot, stubborn and old school. How he put up with Hakstol for so long was puzzling, oh yeah Hakstol was practically family. The entire nhl was laughing at the Flyers and Flyers faithful just kept on believing all the bs and were totally brainwashed. I still love my Flyers but management has been really shaky for years now.
