So much fighting and bickering going on here, we are all collectively restless, lets take a moment to focus on something positive ----- our fantastic off-season!

Last season, Quinn came to us and instilled new systems, work ethic and accountability. Rangers missed the playoffs by a wide margin, but they played hard, entertaining hockey. The days of "turning the other cheek" from previous coach AV ended and the Rangers were 2nd in the league in fighting majors. Fights don't win games, but displays a new mentality, a never quit, never back down style of play that we haven't seen here in a long time.
Problems with the roster were numerous. Poor defense led by the 3 "S" players: Staal, Shatty and Smith. Our PK was near the bottom of the league. We lacked high end talent and explosive scoring. Hank slumped late in the year --- was he just tired or aging?
Now look at the changes that are coming for this upcoming seasons' roster:

We got rid of at LEAST 1 of the 3 "S" players, Shatty was bought out and there is a good chance Smith doesn't make the final roster and may play at Hartford. Neal Pionk played much of last season on our top pairing. Jacob Trouba is such a quantum upgrade over Pionk that cannot be emphasized enough! Adam Fox joining the team made Shatty expendable. Hajek, Rykov, and Lindgren represent the possibility that Staal may be our 7th defenseman. Defense has unquestionably been upgraded.

Artemi Panarin was brought in as a UFA. He will replace and upgrade Jimmy Vesey in our top 6 in another quantum way. Kaapo Kakko was the prize of winning the 2nd spot in the lottery. His arrival creates excitement and competition amongst our forwards. Kravtsov and Kakko upgrade our teams overall skill. Jake Elmer will get a look in camp and Lettieri knows this may be his last chance to make our team. McKegg will either be a leader in Hartford or a gritty 4th liner on Broadway. This all represents a considerable rise in our overall roster skill.

Shesty was our 3rd Russian player to leave the KHL, sign a contract and come to North America. He will provide competition with Georgi for the backup spot to Hank. I expect Lundquist to have a bounce back year because for the first time in years, he HAS to be looking over his shoulder at young talent coming for his job. If he regresses, he will sit!

Finally, keep in mind, with all of our trades and deals --- we still have 9 picks in the 2020 draft, one that is supposed to be very deep and talented. Is this a perfect team? Hardly! But from where we sat just one year ago, this has been perhaps the greatest off-season in team history!

Stop the petty arguments. Pass me the Kool-Aid, give me the pom-poms!

LETS GO RANGERS!!!

The future looks bright, so lets not dwell on the past and maybe stop fighting about not sucking long enough, or how any one of would have done things better than what gorton did and lets look at a successful summer!

I with you on the up coming year. Iโ€™ve been a ranger fan for longer than most on here have been alive (1962) Besides the early 70โ€™s I havenโ€™t looked froward to a season like I am about this one. Itโ€™s not because they will win the cup but to watch a young club come together and a real plan by management come together. LGR

When you think about it. After the misery of The last two seasons. The first day of training camp Kakko, Kravtsov and Panarin are walking through the door. Itโ€™s mind boggling. So exciting. ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž

Combine all the new blood with return of JD to the Garden & I'm probably as excited for the start 0f 2019-2020 more than I've been for a season since the shortened 2012-13 season.
