Well, Gally and Phil both arent great 2 way players so that change shouldnt be a drastic adjustment.
The main issue with making the 2nd pairing Petterson Schultz... is we now have JJ Gudds in the 3rd pair. And that (frank)ing horrifies me. - Guile
I’d like to think if the pairings shake out that way that we would see JJ’s TOI drop closer to 10 minutes, and Gudbranson down to 16-17. With a deeper, more complete forward unit we SHOULD be able to neutralize other teams breakouts a bit more which makes it easier on our defensemen. If we let teams break out like the Islanders did it’s going to be a stressful season |

Yeah just hide the pairing. I’d much rather have a good second pairing and have to hide a sub-replacement level third pairing than having a bad bottom 4 because we tried to “spread the wealth”. We don’t have enough good defensemen to spread the wealth.

I think it's not just about JJ and Gudbranson's level of play, but that they're stylistically very similar in that both tend to stay close to their own net. I'd rather just take my chances with Riikola who can at least skate and I think has a chance to improve. I might even try Warsofsky. |

As a forward it is absolutely brutal getting ice time with 13 forwards and if injuries or penalties strike I’d rather still keep 6 defenders back there and just really shelter some
I’d also like to respond to the people calling Galchenyuk a possession black hole. He’s played with some very good players in the past and had figures over 50% while being positive relative to his teammates. His QoT got worse and so did his possession stats. I don’t think that’s all too complicated. He was positive relative to his teammates last year despite playing with Cousins who is clearly inferior to Malkin when it comes to possession
Phil is basically 50% for his career, same as a Pen and his FF is also around 50% but is -1.9%. Galchenyuk is basically the same but has had a lower QoT over the last few years. Note: Chucky was 3 for 6 in the shootout last year and is 27% for his career, Phil is 21% |

And you take every opportunity to take digs without actually replying which is like the internet version of being a coward despite the fact that when you ask questions like “source?” And I respond to it I get nada. Just empty digs. But like you said a long time ago, I add nothing to this forum

I don’t think they’d see a whole lot of D zone starts off whistles at least I hope they wouldn’t. That avoids part of the problem. As long as JJ is on one of the pairings it’s always going to be a smudge |

Sully gives his 3rd pair and depth lines a lot of dzone starts because he wants his top lines and pairs creating offense |

My bar for a 6th defenseman to replace JJ is admittedly low. Gudbranson, I'm at least willing to give a chance to, but it's not going to work with a partner who skates and passes worse than he does. |

Enter Tojo: ...
Tojo did some digging on him earlier as a bounce back candidate. CF was +5.6% relative and FF%rel is 5.8 so both are favorable. Possession quality is also positive. Dobber Sports shows him having some of the most favorable deployment of Rangers deployment but he used it to his advantage maintaining the highest CF%rel on the team. He shot 1.4% last year but 5% is his average.
I think Anaheim is a great fit. They’ve got Manson, Holzer, and Wideman. Fowler, Lindholm, Manson, and Shattenkirk isn’t a bad top 4 especially if all it costs you is ~$17.5MM |

It’s definitely just wishful thinking on my part. My long term hope /stance all summer has been that Kola or Ruhwedel will earn the #6 spot over JJ. OR maybe JJ just needed this first year to get acclimated 😉 😂 |

seriously, (frank) the ref on here. no (frank)ing backbone, it's insane. Own up to your poopty mistakes, leaving rampant homophobic and comments calling people idiots and douchebags up, while deleting ones that don't break ToS. At least acknowledge your laziness.

There are lots of good follows out there on twitter for this kind of content. It would’ve taken me a lot longer to find some of these guys like Sean Tierney without RW, Boyd led me to The Point, but I think I was the one who brought Micah’s work to the comment section. I’m not a subscriber of his but for only like $5 you can access to a ton of good stuff (I’m not Micah advertising, just throwing the guy a bone) - WSCTeton17
I don’t understand why you wouldn’t just watch hockey and come to your own conclusions. I’ve never had a sheep mentality so it just baffles me. To each his own though. |

No I think he does but isn’t part of the fun just watching and coming to your own conclusions without relying on other people’s flawed charts? Using JJ as an example is just low hanging fruit. Everyone knows he’s bad at an nhl level. |

Why not do both? You think it really hurts ones understanding of the game to both watch the games and looking into underlying stats and numbers?
What if I told you that your eye tests, because of opinions and bias, could be very flawed as well? |
