So today’s James Tanner comments...

At first, I thought it would be funny to give it a read. Yeah, I didn’t make it far before one of his replies made me want to puke. Bless all those who are standing for truth. May you all have a wonderful day!

Tanner is getting absolutely roasted by everyone and their mom's. Bill, MJL, you name it they're absolutely giving it to him. And they are 100% right, guy is an absolute joke who can barely pass for a hockey enthusiast, much less a knowledgeable part of the Hockey Blogosphere.

Meltzer didn’t roast him too bad. He gave him a jab a little bit responding to Tanner’s 5th “point”, but other than that he was pretty professional and stuck to valid points.

If nothing else, he was just dropping some truth bombs on him rather than rubbing his face in it.

Tanner did come away with a bit of a slapped ass, though. He took it well, I will say.

Celebrating ex-Flyers winning elsewhere is the saddest thing I've ever heard of.

Yeah, he just did it without mudslinging. And he was right!

The response was pretty professional, but I agree that when done properly, that can sting even worse.

He basically claimed “this is lazy journalism and you don’t know what you’re talking about” without saying the words themselves.

To Tanner’s point about the value of different perspectives, the view from another place or point in time...I think I have a deep appreciation for this. However, where many ideas are speculative or projections, the facts can’t just be ignored in the effort to be outside the box.

Exactly my point! We are seriously blessed we get to read, basically an article a day which is not the norm here, from a guy like Bill. If I was in a fan base that had that lazy, misinformed type of trash, it would make for an even longer summer.

Doing a google search he seems to be a blogger that has posted under more than just HockeyBuzz. However, there is a reddit category devoted to him, "James Tanner - Worst Hockey-related Journalist of the Year?"

Exactly why I defended Meltzer today. We are fortunate. I enjoy this site because of its wackiness, but Bill provides some actual meat to chew. It’s our own nuts who provide the absurdity on the Flyers threads, not the contributing author.

I don’t hate Tanner. He’s a blogger with a little less experience who often relies on stirring the pot. There’s a time an place for that, and frankly Hockeybuzz is one of those.

But he was just wrong here, and then heard about it from someone with more clout.
