Hey Ek, can you ask your Toronto sources how the Clarkson contract impacts Marner? Seems clear to me that the Leafs probably make a handshake deal with Marner, but actually wait until the first day of the regular season to formally sign the contract. That way they gain the full value of Clarkson's LTIR flexibility.

Makes sense to me, but your sources have been telling you about this July 31 deadline so you've probably already talked about this with them already. Right?
