It's really hard to "Front-Load" a 1 year contract.

The insinuated idea is that you pay him a $4m signing bonus, and a $500k salary, or something structured similarly.

While you can't do anything about his cap hit, you can certainly get teams who are cash poor who would only want to pay $500k for a guy who helps brings to the cap floor.

Hell, with that type of savings, Eugene would want him back!

I'm still astounded with the centre depth this team has. Think about the Kessel years and that hunt for the elusive 1C. Pretty neat-o.

I dig it. I dig this team. Sign MM and drop the puck.

Any player not already on the roster would. It’s just now the salary cap does play a role in decisions, whether we or the people running the teams like it. Him playing this year, well most of the year, would trigger some bonuses to be attributed towards the cap in 2020-2021. Maybe Dubas doesn’t give a poop. I’m just a hockey fan that read an article that he might.

They got one of the better WR in the league and probably the best RB but not having a decent QB is killing them.

The Leafs paid out like 30 million on July 1st. What more do we want? 1 year deals are just never put with bonuses. That won't go over well in the NHL

Our D is so underrated. Rielly/Barrie/Muzzin are a terrific top 3.

Hainsey hurt the team a lot and we'll see it. If he could have been a 3rd pairing guy, he would have been fine. But he was used so much. I have no idea how Rielly wasn't a Norris finalist with his numbers and D partner.

There are guys like Marleau and Hainsey that are huge additions by subtraction. Marleau took minutes away from far better players last season. Hainsey is just not close to the top 3 we have now.

If you look at advanced stats, Dubas removed the weakest links throghout the team.

I really like their defence. Can’t wait to start the season with muzzin and Barrie. If someone had told me last year that we would have those 2 players to start the 19/20 season I would have thought it would be impossible.
