Sources have reported to the Athletic that the Minnesota Wild have interviewed Peter Chiarelli for the GM role.

I was quite shocked he'd even get an interview. And this is after the owner got applause for letting his GM go after a year and admitting a mistake.LOL |

Just in case you are wondering about how Chiarelli did in Edmonton, I'll let the Edmonton Sun give you a quick rundown:
https://edmontonsun.com/s...l-manager-peter-chiarelli
Chiarelli, 54, was hired by Oilers CEO Bob Nicholson on April 24, 2015, nine days after being fired by the Boston Bruins.
Chiarelli oversaw the selection of Connor McDavid first overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft and then hired McLellan as head coach.
During his tenure, Chiarelli made a number of ill-fated roster decisions, which began with trading the 16th and 33rd pick to the New York Islanders for defenceman Griffin Reinhart.
The Islanders selected centre Mathew Barzal with the 16th pick.
Reinhart went on to play 29 games with the Oilers in 2015-2016 before being left unprotected in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft and selected by the Vegas Golden Knights. He is currently in the American Hockey League.
Barzal went on to win the Calder Trophy in 2018.
In June 2016, Chiarelli traded 2010 first overall pick Taylor Hall to the New Jersey Devils for defenceman Adam Larsson.
Last season Hall had 93 points for New Jersey and won the Hart Trophy as the NHL’s most valuable player.
That summer, Chiarelli also signed winger Milan Lucic to a seven-year, $42-milllion free-agent contract.
After scoring 23 goals and registering 50 points in his first year with Edmonton, Lucic’s offence has dried up. He had two goals through the 2018 calendar year and has five goals and 12 points in 50 games this season.
Lucic, 30, has four years remaining on his contract after this season and is likely to be bought out before the end of the term.
In June 2017, Chiarelli traded winger Jordan Eberle to the New York Islanders in exchange for Ryan Strome, who was traded this season for Ryan Spooner.
The Oilers waived Spooner on Monday, but he was back in the lineup Tuesday against the Red Wings after clearing waivers.
Chiarelli’s final transaction for the Oilers was announced Monday, extending goaltender Mikko Koskinen to a three-year, contract with an average annual value of $4.5 million.
The move was surprising considering Koskinen had played just 27 games with the Oilers after spending the previous five seasons in the KHL. |

Has he done anything that turned out to be a good move?
I can't even think of one?
Drafting McDavid doesn't count because that's just something a green plant would have done. |

How he lasted as long as he did in Edmonton is unbelievable. How is he not blacklisted by every team in every sport.

Maybe not in Edmonton, but the dude did win a Stanley Cup in Boston.
Yeah, you can argue that other guys were the real architects, but a ring on the finger is a ring on the finger.
I just took a peek at his drafting in Edmonton:
http://www.hockeydb.com/i...aft/teams/dr00005632.html
Not a lot of meat on those bones (at least not yet).
It will be very interesting to see if PenutButterJelly can find his game. |

Chiarelli was probably against it and Darryl Katz overruled him. Chiarelli was probably in discussions to trade McDavid for Jaden Schwartz and a first (no wait I guess that'll have to be a second round pick) when he got fired. |

Yeah I was talking about Edmonton.
He did make some moves than ended up giving Boston a cup so he gets marks for that.
But with the Oilers? Nothing.

My office is a ghost town.
I'm hoping to fade away around 3 pm.
Want to hear the saddest franking True Wedgie Story® ever?
For reasons I don't want to get into (Mrs. Wedgie franked up), we need to board the dog for Saturday night.
Of course, all our friends are out of town, and the local kennels are all booked up. So we start shooting emails around last night through a service that is essentially Air BnB for dogs.
One woman emails back - she won't be in town on the weekend, but would it be OK if she brought our dog up to her cottage?
There you have it, folks: My wife and I stuck in the city alone this long weekend, and our franking dog just got a cottage invite from a stranger.
FML - Atomic Wedgie
Don't worry Wedgie you can bring the dog up to my cabin. |

A slightly more balanced review of Chiarelli's time in Edmonton:
https://edmontonjournal.c...or-minnesota-wild-job-hmm
Chiarelli made some good moves in Edmonton, such as signing up Connor McDavid, Oscar Klefbom and Leon Draisaitl long-term, trading for Cam Talbot, Patrick Maroon and Zack Kassian, signing Kris Russell to his initial one-year deal in 2016 and bringing in Alex Chiasson on a PTO. But most of those good deeds came in Chiarelli’s first year at the helm.
He then goes on to list all the bad moves. And there are a lot of them. |

I'm just following on the PGA website, but apparently he just stuck his approach shot on 17 to within a yard of the hole. |

Birdied 17.
He's -4 walking to the 18th tee (he birdied it yesterday).
Projected cut: -3 and under.
So obviously this next hole is going to be bad.
Like, Maple Leafs cap hell kinda bad. |

I can't believe Chiarelli would even be interviewed. Of course Pierre McGuire has had many interviews for GM the past 15 years. |

Like we do at work sometimes, the interview might be a simple formality, a favour to someone...out of respect, doesn't mean he has much of a chance |
