Interesting take from a fan of a franchise that hasn't done squat in 20+ years.

Not that I'm defending the stupid comment that wayneZ said but we did win a cup in 2003 which last time I checked was only 16 years ago.

Regardless of everything else you wrote, the bottom line is Shattenkirk is garbage bro. He is brown water trash! Mueller and Carrick are more than capable of covering injured players, unless it's Subban, but let's be real, Shattenkirk doesn't help in that scenario either.

The point is, Shattenkirk sucked in Washington, he has been the 2nd worst d-man with the Rangers (1st place honor goes to Marc Staal). Shattenkirk brings nothing to the table for NJ and it would be a massive waste of time to bring him on.

This is based solely on some analytics spreadsheet, I'm guessing?
Make no mistake, I am not saying that the Rangers D corps was anything other than flaming garbage last season. But, Marc Staal might have been the best of them over the season as a whole. The severity of his injuries have made him a shell of the player that earned his current contract, but he was much improved over the last couple of years prior.
IMO, if he were on a team where he could play 3rd pairing minutes and PK, on a more reasonable contract, no one would ever have a problem with him. Unfortunately, the Rangers have not been that sort of team in recent years. Leading to a very harsh reputation for him.

Haha. Ok, I'll accept that burn! Didn't feel like doing any research and it feels like it was longer ago than that (doesn't it?)!

I think he will holdout all season and sign with Seattle next season. My source is Tanner. (e4)

It does especially when my team (Devils) hasn't been that good over the last 6 years, hopefully they (and the Rangers) get back into a nice rivalry (like in my house with my wife being a big Ranger fan )

If 2003 seems longer than 16 years than 1994 must feel like a lifetime!

Kinda does. Although the deep runs from a handful of years ago helped (a little)!

I think you weren't paying attention for a bit.
A Cup final appearance and 2 Conference finals is doing something in my book. You don't have to take home the Cup to be a good team.
What has Jersey done since winning?

If he would’ve gone to Edmonton in the first place, the Blues would have Hall, though maybe not a cup.

The perfect place for Shatty would be to return to the Blues! With their power play disappearing in the playoffs and really for the past couple of years with out him, this would be a good fit!

Hard pass.
