I don’t think Puljujarvi has much (any?) value anymore. Whiffing on him and Yakupov is difficult for any team to bounce back from

So for this deal, it’s gotta be something like Yamamoto + 1st? EDM would have to put strict conditions on that pick though, or we could be looking at another Duchene situation in Ottawa

Newark is 14 miles from NYC. You think there is any difference in air quality?

Also the Ranger problem is they probably can’t resign Kreider. He’s 28 and was the 2nd highest scorer on your team last year. Put up the same number of goals as Panarin coincidentally. He’s exactly the type of player you’d keep if you could.

NYR can sign Kreider next season.. Even with Shatty cap hit next season they will have approx. 14 mill available. Strome, Fast, Belesky, Nam, Kreiders current contract, and many Harford guys contracts will be done. Question is if NYR want to re-sign Kreider to a 6+ mill/5yr deal. He's a 20-30 goal scorer who goes invisible for weeks at a time. The idea of what Kreider could/should be is why most Ranger fans want to keep him.

Not sure if $$ could be worked out but getting RNH would be welcomed in NY. Kreider, pick, prospects for RNH?

Since that's probably not happening, then Pulljarvi + pick/prospects might be doable

Your hatred is clouding your vision.
You are right about a couple of things though, I'll give you that.
Smith is gong to the AHL. And we will be chasing a wild card (I actually think we'll be chasing 3rd in the Metro) - THIS SEASON.
Next year when the kids have grown a little and the next top prospects are getting a look, we'll be moving up from there!!
Don't worry, we will still remember to save you tickets for playoff games. You remember the playoffs, don't you?

Ek is currently busy watching a young David Poile running around the Spectrum.

I think he is watching Mike Gartner play in Bern.

All but three of us Rangers fans on this site share your optimism.

I like your posts though. They make sense, have facts and well stated arguments.

I don’t even understand which side you’re coming from. Too much for Kreider? Too little?

Do you know how to spell and formulate a sentence with actual words? Or no?

If they want a left power forward, why don't they try to get Lucic from Calgary?

I don't follow this part of the game as closely as some, but let me try to refute some of your points.

Both ADA and Lemieux are RFA's without arbitration rights, so unless they are offer sheeted they will take what they are given or go play overseas. They will not be given $3M. They are both coming off entry level contracts, and only need an additional 10% on qualifying offers, I believe. So, lets say $2.5M total to sign them both.
Brendan Smith and Beleskey will be buried in the AHL, so that will save ~$1.3M each, so with that NYR are already below the cap with everyone signed.
Kakko and others may hit bonuses this season (and no one will be upset by it!), but even if there is no room under the cap for those, the remainder gets shunted to next years cap. Not ideal, but certainly helpful for today.
Plus, even without making another deal, which I think they will anyway, they can play the game of sending some of their 5 roster players who don't need to pass through waivers to down to Hartford every time they have a couple days off. Doing so will shave some money of the salaries each time.
Long story short, they are just fine as of today and only going to be in better shape moving forward.

The max cap that they would save by sending players down to the minors is $1.075 million each (Article 50.5 of the CBA - $700,000 plus $375,000).

True. But, are the Oilers in a position to give away picks and prospects? That's where this rumour doesn't make sense to me.
- Tonybere

They are, pressure to make the playoffs is on. They have made the playoffs once in the last 13 seasons.

Ek, who are the 5 LEAST desperate teams? Could one of them be sniffing around a 1-year offer sheet to kickstart the desperation levels? If it doesn't work could it be a sign and trade? Maybe David "Benjamin Button" Poile is involved?

the Rags have no leverage. they need cap space. if the oilers offer garbage, they'll have to take it or let go of DeAngelo. I'm ok with them losing DeAngelo
- jtylerm

Actually they don’t have to move kreider at all. Bury smith. Tony and Lemiuex don’t have arbitration
