A Cozens vs Caufield (or Zegras,Boldy etc) discussion is a more interesting discussion than Skinner vs Laine.

Sabres had an equal shot at whoever was available at 7, and we’ll be able to track these players throughout their careers all all begin at around the same time.

Laine/Skinner seems a little strange because they’re at different points of their careers. And one was on the team already whereas the other would have to be acquired at a high cost before forking over a huge pile of dough.

At SS? Whoopdie doo, John Beecher outscored him. Casey Mittelstadt won it 2018, and he's clearly the best player to come out of that draft.

Casey is a great prospect and why shouldn’t he be the best player you act like he can’t be that player ? If he takes care of his body and does the work this summer he would be a top 15 player but that’s up to him

Casey is a great prospect and why shouldn’t he be the best player you act like he can’t be that player ? If he takes care of his body and does the work this summer he would be a top 15 player but that’s up to him

I'm not the type of person that likes to finger point, and I don't like people that do so to escape their own faults and errors. But there is a lot of evidence that Casey was unintentionally set up to fail last season. He was thrown into the fire like Jack Eichel was. Except it's common knowledge that Jack was much better equipped, and even he admitted his first NHL season was hard. Casey isn't Jack, but I don't doubt his talent for a second. He deserved protected minutes and better line mates, and he got neither.

I mean, he was fine. I don't really hate the comparison like I do some of your other ones. I see more potential in Johnson than Leopold. He always seemed like a low ceiling but talented top 4.

The kid has elite speed and considered a great goal score Kessler and ROR are 2 way centers that are slow.

I don’t like that comparison at all. Every YouTube highlight has cozens showing speed, carrying the puck in, and snipping.

His talent was great it’s the injuries that kept slowing him down if he didn’t get hurt all the time he Would’ve had a career that was quite like Numminen was underrated

Yeah, both Bills and Sabres seem to emphasize character more than other teams. It remains to be seen how that strategy works out.

Personally I think if the room is stable and strong, it can withstand or even convert a negative locker room guy.

Not entirely, Skinner at this point in his career does a lot of things better than laine, yes PL is younger but going by last season I’d take Skinner right now over laine.
Please don’t take this as I think Skinner will be better for their entire careers but at this point Skinner is the more we’ll rounded player.
