Corey Pronman's "Standout Prospects At The World Junior Camps"

Ryan Johnson, D, Buffalo

Johnson stood out to me consistently through the camp, and even as a 2001 in the 2000 age group, he looks like a strong candidate for the World Junior team this winter. His skating and hockey sense looked very good. “He was a pleasant surprise for us. He has quickness and elusiveness,” said USA general manager John Vanbiesbrouck. The skating was always evident when I watched Johnson last season, but the offense was inconsistent. He was a second power play guy on the eventual USHL champion and some games I didn’t see him make a ton of plays. He was very good down the stretch, though, and made a lot of tough plays in this camp.

“I believe I have a lot of potential, especially on the offensive side. Being deceptive with the puck is a big part of my game,” said Johnson.

The fact that some fans want him in the starting lineup is crazy enough then they want to put him in the 3rd or 4th line so He can just develop into a checking role player

Good idea

If he looks like Reinhart did during his 9 games, he'll get sent back. no harm, no foul

I’ve been saying he deserves his 9 game try out the entire time.

He has speed, and you can’t teach that. He should be okay nhl wise.

Would you rather "gift" Okposo a top-6 RW spot?

If he earns it, he earns it. I think hes going to be too small like Reinhart was. It'll be apparent quickly whether he belongs.

I was the one who suggested it, not knowing the rules of the practice squad. I thought there was an eligibility that would not require subjecting a player to waivers to be put on the practice squad.

If things worked out perfectly, Cozens is our shutdown 3C with scoring ability.

Roll 3 lines evenly, Eichel, Mitts, Cozens down the middle. It's a good problem to have if he develops into something.

So?

Lot's of players get their 9 games

If they aren't ready or there isn't room for them where they should be in the lineup they get sent back to juniors.

If he has a good showing in camp he should get his 9 game look

9 games...

It is 9 game

Not the season

If he plays well and puts up points in those 9 games then he stays the season, if not he goes back to junior

Why can't you grasp this?
