9 games...

It is 9 game

Not the season

If he plays well and puts up points in those 9 games then he stays the season, if not he goes back to junior

Why can't you grasp this?

If he was the first overall pick then sure I would want him to be in the lineup Because 100% of the time those guys are ready

Let's take it one step at a time

He has to get healthy
He has to show something in camp
He has to make an impression in the preseason
He has to show improvement through the preseason
Then he has 9 games to show he belongs

If he doesn't look the part at any time, they'll pull the plug

Will see what happens it’s 50/50 I think he should go to college and be the Johnny hockey of the Year

Or he can make the Montréal Canadiens and score 30 goals with Kotkaniemi

We get it, you don't think Cozens is ready.

If he proves that he's worth a 9 game tryout in camp, wouldn't that be a good sign?

Sam did not give a good showing and was sent back.

Cozens may fall in the same boat, or he proves he can handle it and will stay.

This entire conversation is going over your head like usual

You get latched on to 1 piece of a conversation and think the entire discussion is strictly about that one piece.

This conversation is about Cozens and if he gets his 9 games

You turn that into the entire season

Both guy at the time were considered eventual top line center.

One was picked 1st overall, was consistently a healthy scratch his rookie year, played a bottom six roll, and was widely considered a bust his 1st few years in the league.

You basically said somebody want our current 7th overall pick to play a bottom six roll which will essentially ruin his career and make him a checking line player the rest of his career.

I point out that Joe Thornton did that to start off his career and look how he turned out and you say it’s a bad comparison because he was the 1st overall pick.

Why do you say this? It’s because you didn’t think of it 1st and/or didn’t know/forgot it happen.

I honestly don’t care if he scores 5g he needs to be sent down they don’t need to bring him in at all let him develop and Be the mvp for the world juniors .. I’m sick of rushing prospects because they’re brand new

Can I just say, this is why no one takes you seriously. Caufield is smaller, picked later (your credentials, not mine), and has no business in the show year 1. Cozens is bigger, picked earlier, and prolly has no business in the show year 1. But your willing to give Cole a pass, and even say he'll score 30. Especially on another rookies wing no less.

He wasn't strong enough, and his awareness of big hits was 0/10. I remember him getting plastered by ZG in camp, and then more as his 9 games went.

After seeing how Cozens got hurt, i assume he will look the same as Reinhart, which is fine. If he looks better, that'll be a pleasant surprise for me

A lot has to go right for him, and if he's not better than Sheary or Okposo at RW, i don't think he'll stay. I don't see him competing for a center position at all, personally

Cole can easily just plot himself on the side and get pass on the power play and be the goal specialist ..

Should he ? No but The Canadians might do something like that

He was 5th in voting. Out of 179 votes for first place he got 11. He didn't almost win rookie of the year. He did get rookie of the month for April though, so I guess that's almost the same thing.

Don't think the two compare

Reinhart had zero awareness in camp like you said and was run over because he looked lost

Cozens was hip checked while trying to make a play and fell on his hand

It would surprise me if he looks more NHL ready than Sheary. Even Okposo, who is 80% done, will look way better in preseason than Cozens, I think.

Those guys are pros. If he looks the part, he should get a shot.

So the kid shows he belongs and has 6 or 7 points and he should be sent down because you say so?

Look, you're probably right he will end up being sent down after his 9 games.

But you get yourself in trouble when you say things like "no matter what"
