It would surprise me if he looks more NHL ready than Sheary. Even Okposo, who is 80% done, will look way better in preseason than Cozens, I think.
Those guys are pros. If he looks the part, he should get a shot. - jcragcrumple
I think he gets a 9 game look and is sent back.
If for nothing else it’s to give him a taste and show what he needs to work at to make the team next season.
It doesn’t hurt his development to do this. |

So the kid shows he belongs and has 6 or 7 points and he should be sent down because you say so?
Look, you're probably right he will end up being sent down after his 9 games.
But you get yourself in trouble when you say things like "no matter what" - Stripes77
After tage and Casey it’s time to let players develop properly and not let their success go to your head of making decisions |

Exactly
It's either he looks completely ready and stays and they don't mess with him sitting every other game or he plays his 9 games and goes back

He looked good his first year ..
So you can’t say “he’s not ready “ - gerbe75pts
Guess playing him 14 minutes a night may have ruined him. He shot 21% his rookie year and never again shot double digits % again. He looked good in one lockout shortened season. Yep 100% ready. |

I have no clue what happened to Edmonton Oilers in general they were a mess and suck at everything and I think that’s when they fired the coach when he had his best season |

It happened to Sam b , Curtis Lazar , gus those players who knows what kind of players they could’ve been if they were properly developed and handled correctly instead they became checking role players right ? |

So if he had spent 2 years in Roch instead of 1, he'd be what, exactly? |

Casey spent a year in college and Tage did two years. Maybe going back to Lethbridge is not the answer for him. He's not playing with a lot of talent and there may not be anything left for him to learn there. |

He was fine though after that he was trash - gerbe75pts
He wasn’t fine he had 16 points (6 goals, 4 of which were on the pp) in his 1st 34 games then got hot and had 15 in his last 14 games. |

Ok but he’s not ready hopefully botts isn’t that idiotic ..
Let’s rush a prospect thats worked well in the past - gerbe75pts
dahlin, eichel and myers sucked their first year
it clearly never works
if the kid is one of the best, he should stick and play meaningful minutes

Players either have it or they don't. Proper development might speed up a player's effectiveness, and poor development might delay it, but if a player is good enough, he eventually figures it out. |

Yes after his nine game try out whatever no matter what he should be sent down - gerbe75pts
and if he has 6 or 7 points after 9 games, and is one of our 6 best players up front, he should stick
only a dumba$$ would say he has to be sent down w/o seeing him in training camp and the 9 game window he is allowed to play |

pretty sure nhl ready prospects get to learn a lot more practicing with the big club on a daily basis then learning bad habits dominating a league with 17 year olds |

I felt they should have kept Reinhart up in 2014-2015 for that very reason. The team was going nowhere (intentionally), and he was too good for his Junior team. He might as well take his lumps at the NHL level, even if he was behind the curve.
That said, this team should at least be able to pretend to compete for a playoff spot this year, so Cozens is in a much different boat. |
