Hockey Talk!

That sounds good to me, although i wonder if we'll have less call ups this year with Schaller, Eriksson, Motte/Leivo sitting in the wings.

- dbot

I still think one or more players are traded/bought out.

But if that doesn't happen, I would be surprised if Erickson/schaller gets called up once waived.

Once Roussel returns they'll need to clear his cap space, again assuming no deals are made before then.

Trades would be great. No more buy outs this season allowed for Canucks. Though seems the extra roster players will be waived.

Believe they have to clear Rousel's cap space before they start the season. Though they may paper Hughes and Petey to fit all in. Let's see how many guys get waived.

I am hoping for one fourth line surprise in camp. Someone steals a job.
- VANTEL

I l think Motte is the only player who could lose a spot, assuming Eriksson and Schaller have already been replaced.

The second buyout window is only for teams with players seeking arbitration. Canucks did not have any

I could see that as well but still requires a trade IMO.

Gotcha, seems like a strange rule. Should of bought out Sutter when they had the chance I guess.

Too bad Goldy didn't file for arbitration...

A trade is ideal, but his value can't really fall any further. The best way is to try to get him scoring a bit IMO. I mean they might put try to subject him to waivers, but if he's negative trade value that doesn't solve much and could complicate things.

New World Record for Angler caught Halibut, 248 cm, 219 kg, 1h 35m to bring in and they couldn't get it in the boat, caught off Iceland. That's a big egg layer to loose.

Only Hutton had arb rights and they didn't qualify him. They chose to qualify Godly so they want him at camp at least. Peculiar he hasn't signed thus far he's got no leverage. Making the roster is questionable.

I believe it. Just 15 years ago you could buy a full sockeye for $10 on Commerical drive.

Wouldn't LE have to be in the top 6 to raise value? Then who are you bumping out? LE's blames the coach for his poor production. So if you play him ad he still flops doesn't that reduce his value?

I assume he has a negative trade value due to his contract. Therefore, as the contract shortens his value naturally increases incrementally unless of course he either deteriorates as a player or is banished to the AHL.

I think due to added depth he'll naturally get better opportunity this season as the QOC should be lower relative to his QOL. Let's not get carried away with what it takes at this point for him to be a positive player to this team. He doesn't need to perform to his contract, he just needs to outperform what his replacement level would be.

Otherwise, you're just throwing away good money after bad.

According to the guys on tsn he is finished, he is no longer nhl capable. Ferraro quote "I've never seen a player so disengaged as LE." Remember how many canucks games he watches, usually from ice level.
Basically it seems there is no hope for him ever being a useful player

Well if there's ever a time to give a guy a chance, it's certainly leading up to and including training camp.

Unless you have some hot trade for the hot trash.

Good take on having less picks is better. <---- sarcasm.

It's not about less is better or more is better. It's what you do with the ones you have. No team has ever been solely built on drafts picks. You win some trades, you lose some.

- manvanfan

And I demonstrated how Benning has been above average with his 2nd round picks and I think we can all agree he has sucked ass with his trades. So I stand by my initial statement, which was he should have made his own selections, plus those he acquired and the team would be better off today than it is.
