I think the pressure will be off those guys because of all the new additions

I am very excited about what Chytil can do, he showed some glimpses of some serious skill level at times last season

I think Andersson is my player to watch. With all these new additions a lot of the pressure should be off of him. Hopefully he worked on his skating as well. He should be hungry to maintain a roster spot.

Also its weird saying but the thing I care the least about is Jesper Fast. He is important to the team I know but I could just care less. Like cool he is on the team still, not doing much for me. So much has changed.

never one word about him needing an extension by anyone ever, and hes in same boat as Kreider

I have no idea what they will do there

Coaches have always seemed to like him, called him very coachable and can play in any situation.

if Fast makes it to being a UFA, I could see Flyers (AV) being all over that one

I am thinking it may be hard to know his true value to the team. For so long he has played up and down the lineup to help settle the team. Now with how much has been added he may finally just be that 4th line player we all wanted. Could be why they are waiting. May save the Rangers some dough

At his current salary, I think he's a very good fourth liner that adds something to the team in various aspects -- penalty kill, protecting late leads, etc. But, I don't think he will be around next year if some team will pay him $3 million plus a year for that skill set.

I think he walks. He makes close to 2 now, you'd think he'd want a slight bump. He's not like a really old guy, but he isn't that young either. I think you could probably come close to replacing him pretty easy with a 1 mil sort of guy. He could wind up back with AV, who will play him way too many minutes while he starts to decline

That dude has bad UFA contract written all over him. Someone will give him something like $3.5M+ over 4-5 years and probably regret it quickly.

I really wouldn't want to give him 2. He's done a ton of good here, but he's a 4th line kind of guy on a good team. Plenty of those type guys are available. We just signed two in the past month. We all hope Lias does better, but if he's a 4th line tops kind of guy, even he is a better option.

Speaking of former Wild GM's....I don't know if you (or anyone else) has an Athletic subscription and/or read that article Russo (MIN beat writer) wrote about Fenton but...hoo boy, that was one hell of an article.

I think Tampa will be able to get Point signed and playing this coming season fine

moving forward though, now with that crazy Vasilevskiy extension, I dont know how they are going to fit everyone in, all those forwards they have making over 5 mil a year and all of them have NTC's

- jimbo83

well, Stevie-Y anin;t the GM no more. Brisebois is really gonna have to sink or swim bc if they miss this window of opportunity to win a cup, he's gonna have a real hard time finding work

Always the danger of hiring an assistant with no GM experience. I saw some tidbits on other outlets. Apparently the guy had no idea how to run stuff day to day. Not just roster stuff, but basic managerial and administrative tasks.

He was the worst GM ever.

It would honestly be a real long summary, but off the top of my head:

- Was absolutely nuts about things leaking out of the front office and, on numerous occasions, berated his staff and threatened their jobs if they were caught leaking info to the media. Also, in the midst of a losing streak, gave the team a stern talking to when the Coyle for Donato trade leaked before a team flight. He apparently completely blew up on the flight. He also, separate occasion I believe, confronted Russo demanding to know who his sources were.

- Completely ignored his AGM's and scouting staff on a few occasions. Apparently made the Niederreiter for Rask trade without scouting or watching any video on Rask. Or talking to E. Staal, who played with him.

- Basically ran his analytics staff out of the building

- Alienated his staff in general. Ran a MIN favorite, Andrew Brunette, out of town, tried to strip his chief contract negotiator of his asst. GM title for some reason, forced some higher level execs to, basically, take glorified amateur scout jobs, put his son in a role he probably wasn't ready for

- Made some extremely questionable roster decisions:

Here’s the problem though: According to Hurricanes sources, the Canes planned to buy out Rask this summer and watched Niederreiter 10 times in the weeks leading up to the trade. There was consensus on their pro side that if Niederreiter got elevated minutes in a top-six role, he’d succeed in Raleigh. However, according to sources, not a single Wild scout was sent to watch Rask in person, and there were already limited viewings because he snipped his finger during a kitchen accident last offseason and missed time.

and:

The Granlund-for-Fiala trade was the one that sparked the most angst.

There were a number of people inside the organization who were worried that over that month leading into the trade deadline Fenton became too singularly focused and “obsessed” with getting Fiala, whom he feels could become a game-breaker. It apparently took some convincing from his staff to keep Fenton from giving up more than Granlund and even retaining salary.

“There was just frustration beyond comprehension,” a source said.

There was a ton of stuff in there. He (Russo) apparently did a radio hit after the article dropped and said that he heard, from only one source (not multiple, which he prefers to confirm across before citing in a written article) that Fenton didn't understand how salary retention works. He, allegedly, though that the salary retained is only for that season and not for the entire remaining term on the contract

Actually splurging on Center ICe so I can watch the games. I've always watched all the national games, and dabbled in the whole free sport stream scene at 1 time, but I've never had a chance to watch the whole season. I'm just that excited about the team I think it's worth every penny this year.
- 2sticks1puck

I almost did that last season, but too many games are blacked out, so I will continue to stream.
