I think it will be a bridge deal. No idea on numbers so I will just guess and say 3 years 6-8M dollar range.
I say a bridge deal because if I am a RFA right now I would want to take a bridge deal. In two years time when Seattle enters the league and the new television deal takes affect the cap is going to go up. So again if I'm an RFA I am betting on myself take the bridge and land an even bigger contract on my 24-26 year old hockey year. - stammerman
You've got to believe he signs for something close to what Marner eventually signs for... which hopefully isn't the ridiculous 10x3 bridge being floated about by malcontent TO journalists. |

Definitely the concussion. But Heddy is no gifted dman in his own zone. He’s one of those go in the corners guys that comes out of the corners with eggs in his pockets uncracked - leafluver27
so you're saying he's wearing goalie pads when goes into the corners??? |

I dunno what you're thinking, Giradi was a buyout, Stralman was a UFA signing, Cally was breaking down and we knew it, Brian Boyle was nothing to write home about outside of the faceoff circle. so farm system no, Ranger castoffs yeah. The only player of value to go there from us was McD and well when he is THE man it ain't great when he is 2nd pairing top notch. Miller shows flashes of being a solid player but then he falls back to earth, anyone I forgot? - blueshirts_fan
The devil is in the details. Cally wasn’t breaking down. You moved him because he wanted a ton of money. He broke down shortly after. You also sent a first round pick with him for a guy who would only allow a trade to your team. So you sort of overpaid even with the second rounder coming back.
But really the comment was really just that you and Tampa have been so active together and less about the individual trades. I mean the Rangers buying out Shattenkirk clearly wasn’t meant to benefit Tampa specifically; but here we are. |

They do have to start winning but I think they still have at least a 5 year window (give or take a year). Ovi, Backstrom and the Caps showed that you can win with and older team if (a) you core is elite (b) you have the right balance between O and D |

You must be one of those guys who goes into the corner with your brain still at home. |

Mask his mistakes?
That would imply he goes back and looks at what he said or even thinks about it in the first place. In fact, it is pretty clear than any blog that has any substance is written by someone else. Ek has mailed it in for many years now.

Ek, can we please get an update on the Marner situation now that the internal deadline has passed. Which teams are in trade talks with Toronto? |

no, he was breakingdown, he missed half the season right after he signed his contract. before that he missed the playoffs when he got hit with a puck during the last week of the season yeah the way he played does not lead to career longevity. |

According to CapFriendly the Shattenkirk signing puts the Bolts at 49 players under contract. Erne or Point?? Hmmm? - BowRage
I mean its a 23 man roster meaning there a 27 non-roster players that are expendable. They could easily deal away any other contract to keep both |

That maybe so. But Hedman never takes an opponent hard into the corners. Washington lived off this two years ago in the playoffs. |

Was a mess definitely St. Louis but was protected by great defensemen. Washington he was horrible and New York he was atrocious. Rangers d was awful and he was a healthy scratch.

I suppose. Hopefully someone doesn't take us to the bank. Maybe Stephen's could use a chance elsewhere? I never hear anything about him these days. Might be worth a shot for someone. |

1) He spent less than half a season in WSH.
2) Rangers were awful hence why he was awful. He is a good offensive dman. He is a 2nd pair Dman. He isnt going to carry a team on his shoulders. He will do well in Tampa. |

Explain away please how bad he was in his own end in St. Louis. Tampa needs better defensemen not another give away machine. |

Shatty was never good in his own end. Rangers were bad but he was worse then most. Injuries did not help, but hes more of a bottom 6 and pp specialist at this point |

I can't disagree with this, but it's not like he was making the team better |
