I wouldn’t include Saad in that group. - DarthKane

He’s gonna have to step up his 200ft game if he wants anywhere near $9. One dimensional snipers are not worth $9.0. |

I think he’ll get $8 million.
The pending RFAs this summer will set the benchmark for DeBrincat. He’s not in the realm of Marner, Point or Rantanen so that group will likely set the ceiling. More comparable parts might be Tkachuk, Connor and Boeser. I left out Laine because I’m not too sure how he compares to DeBrincat.
Regardless, I have to issue with the Hawks paying #12 fair market value to lock him up for the long term. |

How many wingers can you have on the roster that don’t give you a chance to win every night because of a lack of motivation?
Saad
Nylander
Perlini - Timtr
Saad has been a mediocre performer since his return from CBJ. Nylander and Perlini remain to be seen. Can readily understand why Torts wanted Saad moved from Ohio.

He'll probably fall in around 8 million, but if the Hawks get him for an AAV for anything less then that's a huge win. Personally, given his age, I'd be fine with him signing a bridge deal. 3 years brings him right up to 25 years old during the last year and heading into UFA territory. By that point, the only contract still on the book is Seabrook. Toews/Kane/Keith/Saad/Shaw/etc have all fallen off by that point, so you're in a sense working with a clean slate to really pay him if he lights the world on fire the next 3 seasons. |

Tampa Bay blueline now includes Ruuta and Shattenkirk. This is a team that fell hard to Columbus. This was a team supposedly a favorite to win The Cup last year. Those two addition to their blueline are not ecsctly stellar moves. But maybe those two erstwhile once more highly regarded.....will become a tad better in Tampa?
Or not?!
Just as a comparison, we could have those two instead of deHahn and Maata
I say only one of those four is any good. I just hope that he isn't damaged goods.

I'll call it now, Shattenkirk will have a nice bounce back, until he's sidelined by an injury. |

Hawks having a hard time getting Perlini signed because of the cap. Somehow, Tampa doesn't have Point signed yet, but they can sign Shattankirk for 1.75. |

Nalimov report ... or rather I saw some KHL highlights on my FB feed - SKA vs Dynamo (I think Riga - well, not Moscow -who knows .. I think they have more than one team named Dynamo for some unknown reason).
Nalimov is wearing 70 there this season - and well - ok ... SKA lost 6.5 - and some of the goals let in were positively ... well ... bad .. but don't take my word for it:

Tyler thanks for the update and perspective on Perlini.
Looking at Chicago's cap situation and still needing to fill all the roster spots , Perlini hasn't warranted anything more than a show me contractor 1 million.
I get it that players want as much as possible , however his overall production doesn't warrant him earning that much.
IMO he doesn't get signed unless he agrees to Chicago's offer. |

Who would and should serve as a cautionary tale to the better players when Stan comes asking for a smaller "hometown" or bridge deal... |

Perlini at 1 to 2 years for between $1.25 and $1.5 is easily tradeable should he not work out in Chicago. I'm interested if he can come to camp prepared to fight for and keep one of the 12 forward positions where the competition for one of those 12 spots is very intense. I want to see if he can show he's the Perlini, who for a 3 week stretch, was the best Blackhawk and many times the best player on the ice. If he resorts to taking nights or even shifts off sit him in the press box with the popcorn brigade. Should he not work out I suspect there are many teams willing to take a chance on a young guy with size, speed and skill. I don't think the Hawks can lose by signing him. |

You thought wrong, Pallie. Can the guy squat 1000 pounds? Does he drink a gallon of milk (with wheat germ) every day? No? I thought so.
The guy's got Top 6 potential - and a 20% chance of achieving it, imo. There's not much top 6 potential on the farm, and he is tradable. So, I agree with you. Don't let it go to your head. Chief. |

As Ogi said below, he's one dimensional. You cannot have a sustainable payroll with players like ADB earning $9 million. If it's going to be $9 million, you trade him to someone dumb enough to try to build their team around him.
At some point a GM in the NHL is going to have to be smart and play hardball. You cannot win a cup with multiple players on these huge contracts. Even the Hawks didn't. The Hawks had Hossa and Keith at below average contracts, and without that they would likely only have 1 cup. |

Good point. Pointing out this: won't be too long before Point signs up. The rookie GM wants points and Point wants to get paid. Both anxious for a good start after the loud thud from loosing to Columbus. Jeers turn to cheers with the points adding up despite Shattenkirk and.Ruuta on same defense.
Breadman i noticed you cleverly commented on a Shattenkirk rebound but nary a word on Ruuta.
Shattenkirk's old team (the last one) looks to be in a whole lot of "Trouba." Salary cap hell or not. They will employ several among euros, swedish, Finnish and. Czech or two. Many whom were first round choices. But not all of them are going to click. THey have some fast seemingly skill guys like Chytill. No guarantee any of them will develop like B Point did
They traded Poink though which is not bad because they wrestled Trouba away
And another point is about how some bloggers wanted both Point & Trouba. |

I liked Rutta, but once he got hurt, he wasn't the same player anymore. He's not as consistent. I don't see that changing. I wish him the best, but can see him being a healthy scratch quite a bit. |

I don't think those are good comparables. They were the last contracts allowed to circumvent previous cba. I'l agree getting value contracts are important in making a cup team, there are no more 12 year contracts anymore.. |

Another 30+ goal season, close to 80 points will put him at least $8x8... - rpeters01
No chance, you have to look at the offer sheet compensation, will anyone pay a 1,2, and a 3 for the cat? I think not. I place his value more at 5.5-6.0 |

If DBC get 50 next year or even 40 he looking at Marner money what ever that ends up being . And Strom will come in somewhere around 6 or 7 mill .One or two of the top earners on the HAWKS will have to be moved if that the case .Seebs with a big time sweetener Saad Crow .This is the year the boy's really got to hit her hard cause cap hell is right around the corner .Kane to Arizona may not be that far fetched |

23 goals and 47 pts last season which is on par with his career highs of 24 and 53. His first year yes he underperformed as did the entire team. Last year I dont thing so. |
