I mean what are they going to say when asked about him "kids a bum, we hate him" ???
This is the worst time of year for football. There are beat reporters everywhere writing feel good stories about guys who will be cut in only a few weeks. Some may never play in the US again. But because they got 10 first team reps on a Thursday in early August when WR1 was out having his hamstring massaged, somebody had to write about him and his potential. - Phatjohnsn
They wouldn't write about him at all if he was a nothing burger, just like Yeldon

It makes sense to focus on every draft whether you're a playoff team or not. It may be the single biggest factor in determining a team's standing. - RhinoFan
You're right, and so is boss and flacco. The draft is the centerpiece of the roster foundation. Regardless of position in the order. You just need to do it right.

Skimming the transcript of Botterill's interview today, I did not get the sense that the roster is set. When he said "we don't need to make a trade", it sounded like they wouldn't make a trade for the sake of getting under the cap. Any trade they make will be to improve the roster, not merely to become cap compliant.

Everything he says publicly is calculated. I miss GMTM interviews.
