Speaking of The Athletic, Vogl did a "best case-worst case" article for each player. According to him, the Rangers put Vesey at RW for a brief period last year and he produced. Then they took him off that wing and never considered it again. Kruger might have that in mind as well. - buffalofan19
I mentioned something similar to this a couple days ago. I think Vesey will have a good year for us if used correctly. He's obviously got talent and probably the closest thing we have to a two way player like we had in ROR |

BTW, that was tongue in check, although it didn't come off that way.
I always enjoy your take that it isn't good enough...thought that is where you would take it, lol.
The article was interesting, but had some surprises in it. Most notable to me was CBJ remaining a playoff team. They lost some pretty impactful players and I think it will hurt them more than the model showed.
I think overall, finishing between 20sh and 25sh is about right as presently constructed. - IonSabres
I get it, I get it.
The morning show guys here were basically having the same conversation about this being a transition year and waiting for the ten UFAs to clear next summer
Howard had the same reaction as me: oh my God, I cant do this again |

The Roster Formation aspect of this season will be fun to watch, so who can produce in positions where need still exists.
At that RW spot on line 1, it will be interesting to see if it becomes Sheary, Vesey, Johansson, Olofsson...or hopefully, a serious RW that isn't on the roster yet. |

Add in the possibility of still acquiring a 2nd line center for Ristolainen, and you could move Mittelstadt to that wing as well. |

We are currently pretty soft on RW. I bet we add a stud but it would be smarter to play that newly acquired stud on the 2nd line IMO. We dont want to be a one trick pony.
Season starts with Sheary or Johansson on Eichels line I bet |

If Rasmus Dahlin is really the Connor McDavid of D men, then the improvement in this team this upcoming season, if he moves into superstar status is immeasurable.
McDavid became an MVP caliber player at 19. Dahlin was a star at 18, and I’d expect a similar jump.
I really think people are severely underestimating the internal improvement by 26, 37,68 and just having a new coach |

Do you think that will happen before the season starts or after November depending on how the season and roster play out?
I wonder what Botts is thinking...

In all honesty, I can't blame him if that was his thinking. I'd much rather think about that than my job. |

Oh for (frank) sakes Fitz.
Dylan Cozens will be Brandon Dubinsky if he's lucky>Hunting to feed your family means you're stoking your fragile ego and compensating for your small pecker.
Christ. - TheSabresTaco
According to tsn / nhl media guys ..... cozens was rated the 2nd best player for the season started and remained in the top 3-5 range at the draft. (Yes he fell to the Sabres)
So I don’t get how a top 3-5 pick comparable is Brandon Dubinsky. What rol pick is rated as a 4th liner?

Yeah... spend a day hunting so u can “feed your family”
Or
Just take a quick trip to the supermarket
They hunt for “sport”
Not survival
And it’s a joke to me how ppl try to pass off killing defenseless animals as something other than murder
I guess whatever they need to tell themselves so their fragile ego can rest easier
Just another version of bullies trying too hard to compensate for...
well, u know what
Just go buy a sports car instead,
douchebags - jdfitz77
Dude, way off base here. I live in hunting territory. Your right in that you could go to the supermarket, but if you buy meat, it's the same thing you just don't like the blood on your hands. Look up how they treat cows. Just because someone enjoys hunting doesn't mean they don't respect animals or what they offer. And just because they mount their kill, doesn't mean that they just left the rest of the carcass out to rot. I don't hate all your views, but most who hunt do it for both "sport" as well as a replacement to going to the grocery store. Get off your high horse. |

If he's playing with Reinhart on the second line, we'd probably need Reinhart to still be a 65 point winger, which means Mittelstadt will need to have 55+
And then Sheary on the first line probably needs to be close to 60 points. - jcragcrumple
I'm hoping to see, for some period of time anyway, a 2nd line of Oloffson, Mitts, Reinhart. If we ended up with 20+ goals from Oloffson, ~50pts from Mitts, and 60-70pts from Reinhart with that combo, I would think it'd have a pretty positive impact in the standings. |

Yeah, if he gets that without Eichel, then the team would probably be pretty good |

I'd say he better be thinking about it now, as trades in season like November and December, especially for relatively high profile players such as a 2C or 1RW are very few and far between.
The trade market heats up about 4 weeks prior to the TDL...so mid-January.
As for a Risto trade, the suspected potential buyers have been been reduced to a few remaining.
It could roll well into the season, like up to TDL. |

So after all these UFAs depart, here's what we have as far as current contracts and likely RFAs joining next season. There's not a ton of space to add, and guys like Sheary or Vesey aren't included here but may very well be in the cards. PS, ignore the contract amounts. It's more about the actual structure of the roster.

defensively responsible and a capable two-way forward. Scores big goals and does whatever his team needs to win. Has leadership and agitating qualities. Can play both center and wing equally well |
