I expect that Petey's shooting % will drop year over year, but my expectation is that he'll still get more assists and more shots (maybe 25 goals?) Both should be products of better line mates (Boeser full health, Miller and/or Ferland), a more balanced offence across at least the first two lines causing more spreading of coverage, and a more effective power play with the addition of Hughes & Myers.

As Carol blogged, what was obvious in the sophomore season stats for recent Calder winners was that, on average, they didn't produce at the same rates as in their rookie seasons Hoping that Petey bucks that trend!

I think he bucks the trend, largely because I think he's too smart to not. I think with the addition of a Ferland/Miller, you've got guys who can dig out the puck from down low and find him for the shot or a high/low play. There are also more weapons to defend on the powerplay, which should give him a little more room to operate

Agreed, he needed to keep his reputation as a hater so he created NuckUp to gush over Benning

That's good, no one likes him anyways.
I'll PM you a short list of other 'posters' you should keep an eye on.

- Marwood

...actually, it would be better to just start a thread.

It's a vicious circle which clearly is the result of Schizophrenia. Indica can only help so much.

I really like Hughes, and think he'll be exciting to watch, but I am tempering expectations on his offensive impact this year largely because a combination of:

1) The powerplay has been typically very stagnant, which won't utilize his strengths as a roving defenseman
2) His shot does not seem overly dangerous to me. Without the threat of a shot I think penalty killers will hone in on his passing options, neutralizing him a bit

If the coaches let him loose a bit or if his shot improves this summer, things could obviously change

Perhaps thats where you see Edler playing his offside and Hughes feeding him up high or Pettersson down low with Boeser lurking on the other circle and Miller in the bumper position.....I think the addition of Miller and Hughes is going to markedly improve the PP just by hockey IQ alone.....

I’d take Myers over Edler for PP shooting, but otherwise agree!

Edler should be stuck on PP2, the guy just doesn’t have the creativity to be on a good first unit

Myers would be better for PP1 than Edler.

Swap miller and myers and I would be happy with those.

Miller was on the PP with Stamkos, point, kucherov and hedman. He was good with them too

He would also be the Center for PP2, otherwise you need to find room for Sutter

Exactly, Miller goes PP2 for being a center.

It might not be popular but what about:

PP1: Miller-EP-Boeser-Hughes-Myers
PP2: Ferland-Bo-Baertschi-Pearson-Edler

Not sure if I like the 2 defense man as most teams use the 4 forwards.

Bo make such an excellent screen/net front presence. Plus his ability to win faceoffs is best on the team.

EP, Horvat, Miller and Guadette should all be ahead of Sutter on the "PP C" depth chart so unless all of them are on PP1 and/or injured, Sutter shouldn't sniff PP time.

Miller is good in front of the net too though, he can play that role on the first unit was well.
