Sure, why not. Throw it out there see if it sticks.

Sven won't be easy to move.

I will also agree with the random Yotes fan that EP will likely score less goals, but I expect more assists to make up for it. Unless he suddenly shoots more, which is something I'd love to see since he has such a lethal shot. Maybe an improved LW linemate and better puck moving defense will give him more shooting opportunities.

I know the initial reaction is to call that poster an idiot and/or troll, but he's right about a 20% shooting percentage being unsustainable. EP has to shoot more to make up for sh% regression .

His post was selective. EP had ONLY 144 shots.
It’s called lethal efficiency.

Doubles his shots to 288 & 10% scoring he gets 28 goals again. Stats cherry picking debunked.

Look at the overrated Burns at 5.3%

Anyone else love how it took some random Yotes fan to come in here and change the topic of the day to something different than the usual LE's contract and Benning fanboys vs Benning haters?

EP has an elite shot. I don't think we need to worry about him regressing down to 10% at league average, he'll probably settle around 14-15% which means he only needs 180-200 shots to hit 28 goals which is doable. I highly doubt he's going to take 288 shots, it's just not his style and he doesn't need to take that many shots to be an elite player since he's a gifted playmaker and an excellent finisher.

I'd actually retract my previous statement and say that EP has a decent shot at hitting 28 goals again if he stays healthy and only misses a few games.

I'm still expecting more assists, Brock should hopefully be in better shape this year and the upgrades around EP should hopefully result in some better finish on some of his amazing setups. I remember some of his line mates missing some great looks that he fed them, I expect guys like Miller and Ferland to be better at finishing those chances.

yes, but usually the comments usually go back to LE/Benning after the first page or 2 no matter what Carol writes during the off-season.

Your most intelligent response is making fun of people with disabilities, and assuming I live in AZ, am racist, and voted for Trump? Actually, every single one of those assumptions is false, but I do know and love hockey, and my argument against yours is probably the biggest reason Pettersson will struggle!

I also assume that you have a pinup of Matt Dillon in your bedroom. I could banter hockey all day but poop (frank)s like you make it more fun for me to insult...

10% is optimistic. We all know that EP was a JB pick, which means, he will actually suck and drop to a 3.4% shooting percentage.....JB (frank)s up again.....

It's not selective, cherry picking or insulting. It's common sense.

Draisaitl shot 21% last year, he shot 12 the year before.
Point shot 21% last year and shot 14% the year before.
Pavelski shot 20% last year and the year before 10%.

It's largely why Ovechkin leads the league in goals, he's got a great shot but the volume of shots is insane. He nearly averages 5 shots per game over his career and at 10-12% shooting each year, he's going to put up a goal every other game

Pettersson should eventually get up to 200-230 shots for the year, which should be good for 20+ for a season

I occasionally pop by to read Carol's stuff but just couldn't stand idly by for such an egregious offence. He'll have plenty of time to read that book, that's for sure

I expect that Petey's shooting % will drop year over year, but my expectation is that he'll still get more assists and more shots (maybe 25 goals?) Both should be products of better line mates (Boeser full health, Miller and/or Ferland), a more balanced offence across at least the first two lines causing more spreading of coverage, and a more effective power play with the addition of Hughes & Myers.

As Carol blogged, what was obvious in the sophomore season stats for recent Calder winners was that, on average, they didn't produce at the same rates as in their rookie seasons Hoping that Petey bucks that trend!
