Marner ceci hyman and bracco for seth jones and Josh snderson. Add mid round pick(s) if necessary. Then sign gardiner with the savings on cap. Blue jackets win trade but pay more on cap snd leafs win overall move by getting gardiner back for same approx cap hit.leafs roster then may be equal or better than Tampa

Never in my life I thought it would come to the point now where RFA's and there agents would have there teams by the gnads! Everybody playing a game of chicken to see who blinks first! I can guarantee you in the next lockout (cause there will be one) the owners will be pushing for a certain contract limit in years/amount that can be paid to an RFA. - NewfieStud
Top talent players are going to be paid top dollars regardless of whether they are RFAs |

You missed my point. They are comparable players. They both are wingers who favour the pass over the shot.
Many Leaf arguments have been that Marner isnt as good as he thinks he is, he just had a successful season because of JT. Given that statement he should be of equal value to Voracek which is a guy that generally scores in the 60-80 point range.
If you disagree with this that means you believe he is better which means given the fact that a guy like Voracek goes for 8 mill means he should get more that that in addition to the inflation that happened since Voracek would likely get more than 8 mill if he was a UFA today.
Therefore my point is just sign the guy for what he wants. This is not similar to the Provorov situation. No one is saying provorov isnt as good as what he wants. We dont even know what he wants to be honest. Everyone is waiting on the other RFAs - xShoot4WarAmpsx

Bargain Bin isn't going to sign Gardiner. Another ridiculous EK click bait. Markov? He wants to play 1000 games with the Habs. He's played 990. He wants 2m$. I can see Bargain making an offer for him to play the 10 games. Just like Plekanec. It would be a popular move in Habs country, something for poor us Hab fans to cheer up. I would give him what they gave Plek to do the exact same thing: 2,25m for 1 year. Why not? Bargain, pls show respect to the guy. Anyways, Habs wont be contenders this year for sure, they want to tank to get Lafreniere.... |

Didn't they try that already and Markov walked? The respect should be mutual and if he asks for $0.01 over the league minimum to play 10 games I tell him to pound sand. |

He's asking 2m$. They gave Plek 2,25 for the exact same purpose... So why not give it to Markov who's been at least as important (if not more) to the Habs than Plek. Ohhh I totally get it 100% that Markov doesn't have a nice personality. And probably (frank)ed it up 2 years ago. Etc. etc. But who really cares today besides Bargain.... As a hockey player that gave very good time to the team, I think he deserves the opportunity. |

Pay #9 his money. TK scoops up what's left, call it a day. The youth movement is real. |

I happened to be playing NHL 2K9 the other day (hilariously shoddy game) and noticed Markov in there and remember he being rumours a while ago as well. I understand why he would want to return but I do not see anyone taking a shot. The NHL has changed and i think people are all in line with it now.
Markov is such an amazing character and I wish him the best. I just don't think anyone will take a shot. |

I heard that Markov's game has fallen off in recent years and he isn't getting enough offered in the KHL to make him happy. So he's going to try to wring one more big payday out of Montreal. Buyer beware. |

The RFA waiting game is just weird. Matthews gets to be compared with McDavid when his contract was up, despite the stats being different - much based on potential and value to the team. So Marner comes to the plate and he wants to be compared to Matthews. Not Kucherov who scored 30 more points. Not Marchand who got 6 more points in 3 fewer games. Agents want to compare some guys but not others. So if Marner gets his Matthews type money, then all will want to be compared with him. Good luck with this mess getting sorted quickly. |

TSN had an article on Werenski today. Basically the Columbus GM said they are following their routine approach with Werenski, same as they have done with previous contract negotiations. He understood that the agent may want to wait and see what other RFA's sign for. Werenski simply said he's hoping to have a deal done by training camp so he doesn't miss any games.
So...where is the bad blood brewing? Both sides seem pretty understanding. |

Yeah me too. Just like any other summer. But Ek said bad blood is brewing so maybe that's just private stuff that we won't hear publicly? |

I bet he really really really wishes he could tell us, but he was probably given his information and told to keep it on the down-low. It would be bedlam if he could actually let us know what is really going on.

This may sound like nothing at all happening, but to know these three competitors you can be sure they are growing impatient by the second. These are three players who LOVE to play the game and HATE the business involved...and Provorov is the kind of player who just wants this over....This game of chicken is getting old and as of now the teams are banking on the players calling their agents and saying, "Get this deal over with."
Seriously what are you talking about?
How do you know they hate the business involved? They wanna get paid.
Provorov is the kind of player that wants it’s over? What?
Teams are banking on the players calling their agents and saying get this deal over with? Why? It’s gonna be a long summer remember...
Hard deadline end of July on Marner... u have it all figured out.
What do some of your sources say now? Werenski is the type of player who loves this part and wants to wait it out... the real holdup? |

Bad blood is brewing...even though Kekailainen in Columbus just shrugs his shoulders and says things take time and Werenski spends his mornings in the gym and afternoons at the golf course since the season is still like 9 weeks away. Sounds ugly. Maybe Provorov will demand a trade since the relationship is beyond repair?
