I disagree . I think there is a lot of perception . You get a bunch of (frank)en idiots that have not spent one day employed in the NHL that think they have all the answers of how to run a NHL franchise.
Benning was handed a huge pile if sh1t and told to fix it. When he got the team it was plummeting to the dregs of hockey world. Of course it was going to take at least 3 years to take a team that was already free falling to make any significant moves to stop the bleeding.
The team for the last two years has moved up 6 spots and I am pretty sure they will improve again this year. They will be cap compliant and again next year and the year after. I am even willing to say they will be cap compliant for the next two decades unless the rules change.
The team in my opinion for the first time in almost seven years will have a pretty standard NHL roster.
The roster is pretty well set for the next 2 -3 years and some prospects in the wait.

They are up 9 spots in 3 seasons but remember #teamwhiner wants the club to continue to lose so they can tell us all they were right lol. They'll be up another 3-5 spots again.
I previous years we haven't had this core to build around. Hughes, Petey, Horvat, Boeser, Demko are what we are surrounding good players with. Gone are the days of trying to get the Sedins back to the PO's. We are finally moving on and Petey is gonna be a Bure-style game changer. #teamwhiner don't like that lol |

It’s about how each team manages to get there. Will Dubas need to give up mor draft picks to get Marner signed and fit under the cap? Will Gorton have to give up a prospect to move one of his over priced D? Will Benning need to pay a heavy price to move Eriksson or Beagle or whoever? This is the question - 1970vintage
I don't see why we need to give up an asset to get rid of Eriksson? We are already cap compliant with a full roster.
Whether he plays in Utica or anywhere is not a factor IMO .
They are defintely not giving up an asset for Beagle
The team is basically set for years why do they need to make moves? |

Green needs to make an example of Loui quick if he doesn't drink the Kool aid.
You can't have that around the kids and new players. Bus time. |

Did you listen to the interview with Green yesterday? It was revealing in some ways.
I would be very surprised to see Loui on the team next year. Green even said he was really disappointed that Loui came out publicly. If Loui does play for Canucks next year who cares he is irrelevant (but he wont ).
He also said Benning him Weisbrod and other managers sit down all together and make decisions . It is not just Benning in his office spinning a wheel to see what he can fuk up today. |

I know its cliché but time will tell. I do think this team is much better than last year and I truly though we had a chance at the playoffs. Even after the 10 game skid. Lots of factors going into this season but will take a guess that they can make the playoffs. |

We missed the playoffs by 9 points last year. I think this team is better . If we miss the playoffs I am still okay with it as long as the hockey is better. |

Pretty sure all management groups do that. One thing for sure is this year there will be lots of battles for spots in camp. The interesting part will be how the "managers" deal with the overflow.

Today, they need to do something to fit Boeser in. It won’t be much, but it will be something. Next season they are pretty well set. The following year they will need to fit Pettersson and Hughes in.
“Tanev will be off the books” you say, but any player coming “off the books” will need to be replaced. Do you think the Canucks have a top pairing RHD in the system that will replace Tanev next year?
Each year will present a challenge for the management group, and I don’t believe they have all the right people to get it done long term. |

There will be a few interesting decisions this year . Who goes down and who comes up. Utica has had plastic surgery too this year and some players down there are ready to be promoted . There could be one or two moves that no one saw coming . There could also be crickets. |

Right now today without doing anything at all they have between 6.2 -7.2 to sign Boeser.
By the time Petey and Hughes are ready for raises as you said Tanev Spooner Schaller Sutter Sven Pearson Benn all off the books . Yes they need to be replaced but figure that out when it happens and you know exactly how much cap space they have.

Injuries will create openings for guys trying to make the big club. It’s the “good look” that I have issues with. Green doesn’t always have the patience to let the rookies play meaningful minutes. |

I am not a fan of JB as a symbol of the Canucks but I am a fan of the overall group of them. Jim looks like a dummy but obviously he is not. He speaks slow and funny but he is still a smart hockey man.
I think it is a really dumb move to fire someone that making progress. You fire someone when they plateau or free fall .
I still remember loud and clear the chants of the arena "Fire Gillis" even though he was a slick smooth talkin snake oil salesman . |

WD, AV same thing. The mandate this season is participating in the playoffs.
