No offense, but dead last in attendance last year. Is that really just because of the stadium? I mean I really hate Barclays, but I'd go if it was my team. I'm (frank)ing driving to Newark about a dozed times a year.
Personally, I loved the Coliseum but Belmont is pretty exciting... and at worst it'll be better then Barclays.

Honest question: What is so bad about the Barclays center? I thought it was a beautiful building. |

You would know the answer if you were part of the "true hockey base" that is apparently a feature of some teams but not others. NYI has it though. - uofcguy
Dang it! I fell short again! Gonna have to swap my Isles jersey for an $8 ticket. |

Having been born & still live on LI, I certainly can agree even thougt they're my sworn enemy the Isles do have a good fan base contrary to popular belief. If they win & they have a good solid home they draw. Always thought it was a bad idea moving to Brooklyn but it was what they had to do to stay in the NY area. The Belmont site is good cause it's now technically back on LI & even further West of Uniondale (where the Coliseum is) so the Queens & Brooklyn Islander fans can be happy as well. |

The Islander fans can explain better. I've only visited for a couple of games. But the short of it is Barclays was build as a Basketball stadium and not a multi sport arena.
The seating was angled for basketball court viewing. So the seats one end have some very weird angles and a large amount are completely obstructed. The ice actually extends underneath many seats in one end.
The site lines in a number of areas are very messed up. The upper tier is excellent with a very steep rise in the seats so that people in front of you do not block your vision at all. But the place was also designed to be like a night club with very dark colors and it's kind of depressing. The food is awful and overpriced. The outside was purposely designed to develop a rusting patina which is not pretty. Parking is difficult but subway access isn't bad. The location is inconvenient from Manhattan and also from the Long Island where most Islander fans live. |

Thanks for the feedback. It does seem dark and dreary on TV. And I agree with the user that mentioned the car in the corner is stupid. Wasted space where there could have been good seats.
But I still think the outside of the facility is gorgeous. Hopefully I can attend an event there some time soon to see for myself.
Do the Nets play full-time at Barclays? If so, what are Brooklyn NBA fans' thoughts on the building? |

Are you talking about the same fan base that has the arena with the second lowest seating capacity of every team in the NHL and is so empty on most nights that tickets are listed for sale on Stubhub for $8/game?
The fan base with the Lowest Average / Total Attendance and was 4th worst in capacity in the league last year?
A loyal fan shows up to games, they either have NO fans in Brooklyn / Queens and Manhattan (Hard to find 13,000 people there) or they aren't as loyal as they say they are. - MiloslavHorava
Typical comment from a fan of any of the Original 6 teams Rangers attendance declined the last 2 seasons. Likely a direct result to the product on the ice....and also likely why the Isles have had trouble filling the building |

I wonder, it will never happen but just imagine Lou (or any GM of any random team) submitted two offer sheets on two different players and both teams didn't match. Especially if the players offer sheeted are two high caliber players, how would that work out? 4 first rounders for each team? 8 years of first rounders? It would be crazy but will never happen! |

$328 for season tickets. Good deal. That's about half the cost of attending a Leafs home game in October. |

I just read something about Buffalo looking to put someone on IR to get cap compliant. Maybe they create enough room for an offer sheet? |

But does Edmonton have a "true hockey base" like NYI?? Probably. But Ek hasn't really explained which teams do and which don't. |

This will be added to Ek's flawless formula for the Buzztron. Ek factors... "True hockey fanbase." +3. "False hockey fanbase." - 3. "Neutral hockey fanbase." Zero. |

Too logical. This is probably more likely:
True is +3.
False is -3.
Neutral is +1.5.
If original 6, then multiply by 6. |

If the Arizona Coyotes play the New York Islanders the Isles get a +3 for "true hockey fanbase." But Arizona gets a +3 for "new billionaire owner momentum." The deciding factor is the Isles signed 2 PTOs in preseason while the Coyotes only signed 1 RFA. Therefore the "scare factor" wins out. Isles get a +2 SF while the Coyotes get a - 1 SF.
The Isles get credit for a win while the Coyotes are credited with an extra game played. Therefore the Coyotes will play 83 games. 41 home and 41 away plus one scary game played in a true hockey fanbase. 5 points out of a playoff spot but still mathematically alive after 83 games. Just like the Flyers. Carolina has no chance of making the playoffs. They are not a true hockey fanbase. |
