Taking the occasional one timer himself would help as well - BiggE
For a guy of his skill level, he's remarkably bad at one-timing the puck. |

How do players get involved in the alumni? open to any former player? do they ask or do they have to be asked? - daryl stanley
Anyone who played one or more games as a Flyer is automatically a member. No dues. The event costs are covered by sponsors, so Alumni can, for example, play in annual charity golf event without out of pocket costs. They make a few bucks (nothing they could make a living from) for playing in the bigger Alumni games. |

So if a guy like Mike Comrie or Denis Tolpeko wanted to appear in an alumni game, do they automatically let any alumni play, or is there a selection committee to decide rosters? If you theoretically had 30 guys who wanted to play, some would have to wait until another game. |

I actually disagree, but since they were going top-heavy, Colorado seemed like a smart pick with Makar and Byram. |

Depends on the size of the game. Joe Watson manages the roster for the local barnstorming charity fundraisers. Brad Marsh manages the big games with the more prominent names who travel to play in those.
Joe is a stickler for commitment. Doesn't like guys popping in and popping out. He manages it like a team.
Goalie is always the toughest position to find an available Alum.

Voracek has the 8th most PPP in the league since the lockout. He has scored 42 goals in that time compared to 49 for Giroux, even though G has a much better one timer.

Clerly the smart move is to run him out to town for scraps like Buffalo did with ROR. |

I’m a huge Jake fan and would be very displeased if we traded him. The good news is if he was going to be traded this offseason it would have already happened imo. |

how does the roster breakdown always come to trade Voracek? Lets trade a big puck possession winger Maybe we can get that second and third round pick back from Braun if we trade Jake |

Yes, people have said that we need to trade him for a bag of pucks. Or was it questioning his PP decision-making. Eh, same thing I guess. |

It's stupidity to be honest, he's a playmaker not a shooter, for him to change his mentality this stage in his career is not happening. According to those stats Feanor posted, he is doing just fine. |

I understand and appreciate your reasoning, kind of "old dog, new tricks".
However, by electing not to shoot, Jake creates predictability and essentially somewhat equalizes PP and PK teams. If he does not shoot, 4 PKers just need to mark other 4 Power players.
If he is not able/ willing to change, the coaches need to rethink PP personnel/ strategies. |

At what point is Puljujarvi a bust? He's been given every opportunity to succeed, has all the physical tools, but just can't get it done at the NHL level (to date). Granted, he's only 21, and he's been stuck in hell Edmonton, but the guy has done nothing to warrant a roster spot in the NHL so far. 37 points in 139 games doesn't scream middle-6 winger to me.
I'm not saying he definitely is a bust, but how much longer until he becomes one? - jmatchett383
He is no more a "bust" then Morin IMO. He hasn't been handled well... up and down the line-up, up and down from the AHL. I would be willing to take a waiver on him for a season or 2. |

You don't see the difference of Morin not playing due to injury and Puljujarvi not playing because he is simply not been good? |

What evidence is there that Puljujarvi would slot in nicely on the 3rd line? Or anywhere in the NHL for that matter? - MJL
I'm not advocating he take the place of someone better, but we have too many defenseman and not enough RW at the moment. I would give him a shot. Either Hagg or Morin will be the 8th defenseman, why not move one to see if you can get something special out of a player that has been mishandled?
low risk, high reward. |

If you look at Voracek's SOG totals the past several years you'll see that he shoots a lot. Shots are there for taking because he creates a lot of chances with his strength/skill/speed/smarts.
As for the recognition Giroux gets (or the lack thereof)... he'll get a lot more recognition for what he does if/when the Flyers do better in the standings and win playoff rounds |

You're advocating that the Flyers trade for Puljujarvi and pencil him in on the 3rd line. What evidence do you have that he has been mishandled? Puljujarivi is not worth Haag or Morin. You're also not considering that you want to place a young player who has a questionable work ethic and desire to play and place him on the 3rd line with Patrick who is also struggling to breakout, albeit for different reasons. Not a smart idea in my opinion. Puljujarvi is short step from being out of the league. Hard pass. |

Considering the fact that the Flyers dressed six goalies last season, goalie depth for the alumni shouldn't be a problem in five or so years. |
