He’s a Canuck fan. What the Canucks do is a concern to him. I doubt he’s giving other gm’s a free pass, he just doesn’t give a shlt what they do because why would he? Is Dorian keeping you up at night?

Do is one thing. Might do is entirely different. I simply think anyone is paranoid who worries about anything negative that hasn’t happened. Some would call it Benning bashing in advance. |

Also, given the situation he has had to deal with, I think Dorion has actually done a pretty good job.
Also, that rose was delicious, just ordered a case! - 1970vintage

Marichel - in Naramata, specialize in Syrah wines. Very good. I think I paid $20 for a bottle of rose at a private retailer, it's $14.99 wholesale. |

It's the thinking of some that Benning has to "steal" or flat out win every trade he makes. The thinking that's he's "fleecing" the other GM's all the time.
They will take whatever us fans will offer for the player because the other teams has "issues".
Jim said he thought he paid a "fair" price for Miller. "Fair" isn't good enough to some. It's not either end of the spectrum.
It's not as if there isn't another team in the trade that's GM is going to just roll over and summit. |

In the Loungo Jersey retirement game vs Boston. Gaunce scores off of Eriksson's butt for the game winning goal with seconds left in the third. |

This isn't true at all. Those of us critical of Benning would like to see him win just one trade, any trade. He thinks the Miller deal was "fair" others think he paid too much. Is there anyone who thinks it wasn't enough? I have not heard one fan, member of the media, blogger, twitter addict say it was a steal. That alone should tell you something... |

There are the votes for what Benning paid for Miller on Canucksarmy poll.
Grady Sas freaking out over Twitter about "EA sports Fantasy trades". Maybe the perception you get from the other fans and media is just that of fantasy of as you think what "might" have been a good price.
I posted two other trades this morning that what GM's paid a 2nd and a 3rd for. Both of those were lesser players than Miller. If Benning pays a 2nd and a 3rd. I almost guarantee your first thought would be that, the trade is a steal. |

Just for random look at the Sven Baertschi trade on how that 2nd round pick would be doing right now.
Sven has played 219 games for the Canucks. Scored 108 points.
2nd round picks since the 2015 draft when Sven was traded away,
Sebastion Aho and Alex Debrincat are the only two players that have more points than Sven. |

I’d trade Sven for Andersson easily, but to be to fair to JB, it was difficult to predict that Sven would now (potentially) be another hit to the head away from being out of the league.
Plus who knows who the Canucks would’ve drafted with that pick. |

So you have just supported my point completely. 100% of those votes do not think it was too little, and the other players traded for a 2+3 (in your opinion) are not as good.
A good trade should make both sides uncomfortable, meaning both fan bases don’t really like what they gave vs what they got back.
And yes, if he had gotten TJ for a 2nd and a 3rd I would have said “Well done Jim, you finally came out on the winning end of a trade” |

Noooooo - manvanfan
3rd and 6th? - manvanfan
45-50 point player max so far in his career. Barely a 2nd line player - manvanfan
Baertschi's replacement because Baert can't stay healthy
2.4 million dollars more per year - manvanfan
reports that the trade DOES NOT include the Canucks 2nd round pick, but starts with the third. multiple picks going though. - Codes1087

I thought he was 5.75 my mistake. Slightly better - manvanfan
the tune changes once the trade gets officially announced.

That was part of the “staying competitive” Sedin era. I’m pretty sure you and everyone else would love to have a young, top 4 RHD ready to take on the NHL right about now. |

If you are saying "well done, Jim" Julien Brisebois is getting fired.
I didn't support anything other than you don't know the outcome of the trade but are calling it a loss. I'm not sure how you managed to see it that way but from the poll I see 2000 people that haven't rushed to "Jim lost the trade" and 1000 people that are living an EA sports world. |

Let’s hear some examples of trades won by other GM’s. Also GM’s that failed or spent more. Then rate Benning amongst his peers. |

So after what I found out what he was traded for I claimed it to be an "acceptable" trade yet somehow I've changed my stance? Even though I feel it's still an acceptable trade.
Solid work. |

If you think giving up a 1st and 3rd is acceptable for "barely a 2nd line player" then sure. |

They should NEVER be trading first round picks. Despite the conditions being favourable for the Canucks in a strong 2020 draft, and the Canucks not slated to become a playoff team next year, its still an absolute awful trade and Tampa just fleeced us.
- Codes1087
With Miller, team does have a much better shot at the playoffs
-manvanfan
P.S. this was after the trade was announced officially.
Do you see me squawking?
2019 3rd
+
2020 or 2021 1st
it's 2020 first rounder they gave up if the Canucks make the playoffs, if they miss the playoffs then it's the 2021 1st round pick they give up no matter what
- Nucker101
I'm just sad that Van doesn't have a 3rd round pick.
Basically all the players I wanted in the third round have now been taken though
