No, he traded a 1st for a 2nd line player while the team should still be re-building, in my hater, not a real fan opinion.
Also, Myers is a bottom pairing d-man. - Marwood
A 1st for known quantity i can live with especially cuz it filled need well.
Myers is top 4 paired & played properly. I didn’t think the Jets D was impressive. Buff isn’t a great top pairing D with the mistakes he makes & silly pims. Bottom pairing is too harsh imo
I think he might be better than some at drafting but I don't think he's any kind of drafting guru. Keep in mind that I am a miserable whiner. - Marwood
He’s top 5 or 10 with some prospects that will decide it better given time to develop.
Pretty sure they won’t be picking in the high 20’s.
And you’re not giving JB squared much credit for their improved scouting/drafting. - 1970vintage
And you're suggesting that every 1st and 3rd he picks will be gold. We have a real chance at playoffs this season and next. Especially if Markstrom plays like he did last year and Demko is better than Nilsson. Our Forward groups is much improved, as is our defense. We were right in the thick of the playoff hunt before EP dried up. I doubt that happens again this year with our improvements.
When Benning has his mind made up he is more committed than Dr. John Hammond. - 1970vintage
He's like the Hubble when he focuses on a player. At least he wasnt just focused on something so one dimensional as size and speed with Miller. Thats how we end up with the Gudbransons. Miller stacks up nicely when you look at the research.

Yeah so he's a 4-5 dman. That's a lot of coin to commit to that player for 5 years.
I’d trade Sven for Andersson easily, but to be to fair to JB, it was difficult to predict that Sven would now (potentially) be another hit to the head away from being out of the league.
Plus who knows who the Canucks would’ve drafted with that pick. - Nucker101
Sven was tracking to be a 30 goal scorer last season. The signs of career season and him being a game changer were all there. It's unfortunate.
I'm glad he played the wolds and came out healthy. There's hope he will be significant in one capacity or another for the Canucks. If he's healthy and they trade him or he picks up where he left off with his PPG last season... will all be good for the Canucks.

No one can complain about benn, ferland, miller and myers as acquisitions. As players, there is literally nothing to complain about, as they improve the team. My only gripe was and always has been the price for miller (not the player, cause I like him). Not to re hash this, but I thought we had tampa in a position to take advantage of, trade wise, and I thought giving up a 1st was a premium price from a team that wasnt really in a position to do so. That's all. - Codes1087
Hubble Telescope syndrome. Benning has it in trade mode.
EP has had 1 really good season, let's tap the brakes a bit. Many highly skilled but undersized forwards don't do very well in the playoffs. Hughes has played 5 games, and yes he is dynamic. Dominant is a different word though. - golfingsince
One of the things I like about EP, Boeser and Horvat is these guys had championship hunger and experience coming into their careers. EP and Boeser against men. Horvat already showed he steps it up on the playoffs and it was only his rookie season. I like the chances of these 3 being big in playoffs. I know its a pom pom comment but It's not without base.

Not at all. I endorse all forms of criticism.
I was only speaking about myself during the summer break. I’m tired of trying to prove JB’s worthlessness. Fans are entrenched now so I’m just wasting my time.
I’ll wait until season start so I can point at specific situations that spotlight JB’s failures. - bloatedmosquito
lol like a few others here I'm sure.
Can't wait for that first 5-6 game losing steak and the world is ending.
I think you're mistaken. I think if they're close or in by a few points they buy. I'd say 70-30 10% chance they do nothing. - golfingsince
The reason JB has the job still is that he's always had a buyer build approach. That's what ownership wants. They believe in improving by buying. It goes against the tank and draft method and that causes unrest for some.

exactly. EP's attitude suggests that he's pretty pissed he's not in the PO's and that's a contagious thing in the room. Hughes, Boeser and Horvat also suggest that winning attitude. I get the concerns of #teamwhiner when it comes to JB that he has chucked cash at FA's and some questionable trades. But this ain't no Sedin, Burrows, Kesler, Lou era...we have moved on and are cleaning house. This core is so different to what they were trying to build around the Sedins it's ridiculous. As long as they are up 3-5 spots that's the goal. If they flirt with the WC so be it. Exciting hockey that's full of effort. No will give a sh!t much if they lose close games and the effort is there...and I think it will be with this new core post-Sedins.
