Montour is 25

He's he even a maybe at this point?

- Tumbleweed

I wouldn’t of traded for him at that price.

Buffalo has the time to hope he gets to the level he could get to...but it’s up in the air.

He was once a highly regarded prospect and now he’s a guy who’s had two below average seasons in a top 4 role.

Offensively, this Jays team is gonna be one to be reckoned with.

They just need pitching. Having guys like Stro and Sanchez with these guys would have been amazing in the coming years.

Now we gotta hope that some of the guys in the system pan out and that by some miracle they can sign someone. Pearson looks like a real gem, though. He'd probably be a September call up this season, had he not missed most of last season after taking a line-drive back off his arm, breaking it.

Also, I (frank)ing love that nickname.

Borje! I've been using your idea of pesto on lake trout filets for some time now and it rules. Since I have basil growing outside and a bunch of lakers in the freezer it works out perfectly. My go to now. Every time I eat it I think, say what you want about Borje's take on Nylander, the son of a female dog knows lake trout!
- Zezel

glad you like the pesto thingy... but now you have to accept my take on Lazylander to be the correct one...

Lazylander must be loving all the deflections he's benefiting from Marner's contract negotiation.

But he better not crap the bed when the season starts.

Oh my, Ward can't box like Gatti, but he can move and throw heavy heavy combos, both of them absolutely all heart warriors.

I boxed a bit in high school but quit early because A) I was not good and B) even in my teens before CTE was a common term I knew I needed every brain cell I had to make as much money as possible through adulthood.

Sad because I still have the utmost respect for warriors like this off and on the ice but brain trauma is no joke.

The real warrior these days is the blue collar guy that grinds 8-12 hours a day 5-6 days a week for something bigger than him.

Edit: that Ward left body shot would explode my internal organs

Muzzin>>>>>Montour

Montour was piss pour last year in a top 4 role.

- Santo_44

I agree and I like Muzzin for two seasons and walk. Not a huge win for Dubas but just a good value trade. Fair.

In defense of Montour, it's hard to say how he would adapt in in the bright lights of T.O. but up to the trade when Ananheim played Toronto I swear I seen Rielly Jr. out there with a right shot. Lots of caring at both ends just even smaller/less skilled then Rielly, so defensively stuggled but at least tried hard.

I'm happy with how the D trades worked out but I would have zero issue with Montour in the Leafs top 4, I think he would've fit, Sabres got a solid D there.

Thank Muzzin for his contributions and give Barrie 5yx7m sometime before the playoffs.

Admittedly probably Kool-Aid but I think this could be legit. He could get more on the open market, hey may legit want to go home to the Canucks but unless they show some major progress this seasons I think Barrie is going to enjoy this season in Toronto.

A lot to ask a guy to take less but it's a good fit from 28/29-33/34 sets him up for at least one Hainsey-type contract. Too Kool-Aid?

Man those 3 bouts was f'n war...!

I've boxed for many years, ever since I quit hockey, but only training and only the technical bit - no matches and no sparring. My brain is still elite

Leafs will not win the Cup in the next 5 years, because we're the Leafs it's just the damn way it is. However they will be a legit contender every season, and sadly that alone is enough for this long suffering fan for now. Give me some hope, false or not.

If you're an NHL free agent looking at the next 5 years it's got to be a nice destination, a shot at immortality. Hell Brian Papineau will be on Legend's Row if they pull it off.

Random thought, I find it interesting that Dubas decided to not just keep but to promote Dave Morrison (longest tenured Leaf management?), old news but still interesting insight to Dubas' thought process.

Fantastic skillset to learn! Great way to stay in shape but poop to compete you literally accept brain damage, tough.

That and a bit of BJJ and you can take 95% on the street, not that you should, but learning self-defense is never a bad thing.

To feel confident is, imo, the most important. The few times I've been in trouble with bad people, my confident behavior has always gotten me out of it. A big body is possibly helpful as well

Irish Micky Ward had so much heart. Gatti was tough as nails. He'd get stronger the more shots he took. Those fights with Gatti were legendary! Styles make fights! ☺

He still hasn’t proved to me that he can play in the top 4.

The Leafs are trying to win a cup. It’s the time you pass on those guys that might get there.

Like Montour and Miller...both guys that have shown in spurts that they are good but also that they can’t handle it.

The Leafs need guys like Barrie, Brodie, Pesce. Those are the guys they targeted. Players who are are proven.

It's the toughest debate in all of sports but I don't even have him in the top 10.

Jones' biggest weakness was that he fought in a poopty era for boxing so his measuring stick is broken. He and Hopkins should have fought every couple of years because they were the two best. Most of the narrative seems to be that Jones wanted too much of the purse to get back into the ring with Hopkins. Shame...they could've lit up boxing during the 90's.

In terms of the best ever I never saw him but I've read some good books on him ....Sugar Ray Robinson sounds like the best ever to me.

In terms of guys who fought in my lifetime ...Duran and Leonard are the best for me. The 80's was full of really good boxers and those two guys stood out as the best.

I like the way the D is set up. They've got 3 very good minute eaters in Barrie, Rielly and Muzzin and a couple of guys that are playing with something to prove in Dermott and Ceci. Spots 6/7 are up for grabs.

Hopefully they keep a little cap flexibility and can add another reliable minute eater at the trade deadline.
