Maybe I am alone, but Tierney at 25 is light years ahead of Paul, better than White was able to do in nearly all top 6 ice time last year. Browns potential aside, 48 points from mostly a 3rd line role, with the potential of seeing him in the top 6 this year and maybe a career year for him, you don't discard him for potential. He has done a few things Pageau hasn't done yet. Namely stay healthy and 48 points in 81 games, versus Pageaus best of 43 points in 82 games, which was 4 years ago and he is trending backwards. In all likelyhood, if Tierney is retained by the end of the season, plays in the top 6, he will probably again be, the top remaining forward point getter.

Yes Tierney is badly underrated by many.Without a doubt he is waaaaaaay better than paul who did nothing in his career other than benefit of playing with blue chippers batherson and brown in AHL.Tierney was better point wise than White(rookie season)but no doubt in my mind that White is still the better player.Pageau had smith as one of his wingers for most of his tenure here and smith is not exactly a offensive weapon...right?
Other than that yes i could see Tierney having 55-60 points if played regularly in top 6.I could see him getting resigned too.We can't ice a full team of rookies and we need to reach cap floor anyway. With anderson, maacthur and boedkker coming off the books, thats over 13 millions dollars freeing up.Hainsey, ennis, boro, demelo as well become free agents. On that list i would only resign Demelo and probably ennis too depending on how he play.Personnally i would resign Tierney over Pageau tho.
I want senators to be bad enough to be in the bottom of standings this season(28th at worst). They have the chance of getting their franchise/elite forward(lafrenière,byfield, raymond, holtz, perfetti) and possibly another high end 1st round draft pick(SJ 1st).Add on top of that three 2nd round drafts picks who could be used to trade up with SJ 1st.
