To go into the season with those players as your top 6 dman would be a terrible idea

It would be a bad idea to go into the season with Provorov, Sanheim, Niskanen, Myers, Hagg and Morin and simply finding another option in free agency?

Derek Engelland, Ron Hainsey, Anton Stralman. If you say so but There were plenty of options.

Fast forward 18-24 months, we'll be saying the same about Kevin Hayes.

It’s gonna be worse.

Hopefully if Patrick develops, he'll move up. I think Hayes may not stay at a 2nd line level throughout the deal but he'll still have value as a highly paid role player.

Kadri is cheaper and a much better player then Hayes. Both in all three zones and offensive production.

I like Ghost, but I don’t overvalue him like everyone else.

Cheaper yes, but I don't think he's better in all 3 zones. Hayes has certain attributes that help the Flyers 100%. The main thing about Kadri is that you'd have to give up something to get him, and for me, Ghost was too high a cost. If Kadri was a UFA, sure, Id def rather sign him than Hayes, but Fletcher didn't want to give up anything. What he did was get the 2nd best center on the market for a bit of an overpayment, but the kid is 27.

Last year he had 32 points in 41 games playing for the Rangers and hid a skid at the same time the entire Jets team did. Put Hayes with some talented wingers, give him some 2nd unit PP time, he can also help out with the PK and allow NoPa to be slotted in a more advantageous way, and I think he is much more valuable then some people give him credit for. I personally wouldn't be surprised if he eclipses 65 points to be honest.

People think in 1/2 years his contract will be an albatross but i think thats grossly blowing it out of proportion, i think he will be a solid if not spectacular addition to the team for years to come. i dont think AV would have given his blessing otherwise.

No he didn't. He wasn't good enough at either end of the ice.

Due to poor play and injuries, he only averaged 54.4 games a season from when Homer signed him until Fletcher bought him out.

remember when he fell skating backwards, twice in the same game? Good ol Amac.

The guy I heard was a dynamite guy in the locker room and one of the good guys in hockey. it sucks that we were the ones who paid him that much because he simply wasn't worth it. if he got a contract for say, 2.75-3 AAV, he would be a lot less hated, since thats what bottom 4 dmen get paid. he was made to be something he wasn't and put in situations he shouldn't have been, and it does suck that he went through that for 6 years. I mean, you can't fault him for taking that money, it's 100% on Homer. that and the JVR for Schenn trade were the two worst moves he made in my opinion.

You weren't going to get a top 4 NHL defenseman in free agency for 3M a year. He played in bigger situations than he should've been for most of his career and he has been a better player than he has been given credit for. I don't feel bad for what he went through. He was well paid. He gave the Flyers what they needed.
