Gotcha...its an opinion call. Its not like theres one guy that's led the league over and over and over....

Gotcha..lol

If we are going to be using your logic then Gretzky is the best....

However that’s a stupid way to look at things.

Look at G/60 and ESG/60 from the last 3 years.

You know. What’s relevant to today...

He is 2 million off for me.

Marner will never reach Matthews scoring touch.

No one is even close right now. Not mcdavid, not Ovi. Marner can put up points.

He needs to start producing a (frank) ton more even strength and goal scoring to be close to Matthews.

- Santo_44

A point is a point.
Hes close in the eye test and healthy.
He plays a 200ft game.
Its what his agent will be arguing.

ek's next blog.

mitc marne deal more becoming more likely as soon as friday. possibly on a long or short term team friendly deal. rfa domino's could fall in a weekend of bedlam. if marne is not willing to sign on duba's terms, this could drag on. also hearing twoo legit trade offers are on the table including some very surprising players. one team in the east or west. the other could be in the western conference, but not certain and i am looking into. teams have given a drop dead aug 31 deadline on the offers. one nhl executive i spoke to last night said there are still a couple of teams that are looking at killer offer sheets starting in the teen's of millions or less. Multiple sources telling me this could finally start the all out offer sheet war. lou is very quiet about this. also got this text from a gm this morning: "not sure this is the best move, but marne is very upset about the baptiste signing and it is a growing possibility that he sits out the entire season."

I am also hearing (ee3.3) the leafs are looking to shore up the team's most important position, backup goalie. keep your eye on the rangers and King Hungry. Would be a great move for the leafs. source close to KIng Hank have said he has always wanted to be a leaf. don't discount influence from fellow great swedes sundin, salming and aki berg.

stayed tuned.

You almost had me believing all of that.. Everyone knows Mikael Renberg and Henrik Lundqvist are best friends, not Aki Berg

Disagree and imo not how we judge what a player is worth in a contract.

Facts is the only thing agents can argue here.

An agent can’t say “my eye says Marner is as good as Matthews”

It makes sense, in 2008, Matthews didn't score any goals in the NHL. That's not Ovechkin's fault.. You can't blame Ovechkin. That's on Matthews. It's due to Matthews' inability to make the NHL at the age of 11.

We are quite lucky that hes not injury prone. To have a degenerative condition so early in his career...like say...a shoulder....would be a hard thing to cope with..missing 20 games a year makes it hard to be a franchise player.

If AM34 wasn't so damn injury prone maybe.

"The best ability is "availability"

The one poster here says the past doesn't matter, only recent seasons. Following that theory. AM34 recently misses 20 games a year...that 25% of the season...Id rather have a more dependable player.

Stop putting words in my mouth. I never once said he was the best player in the game.

And trophies? Really?

Use facts please. He’s at the top on G/60 and ESG/60 from the last three years at age 19/20/21. He’s only going up at 22...and he’s already at the top.

The facts don’t lie here.

You can use 2010 Ovi all you want. Matthews was probably having learning his timestables still at that time.

Use actual facts please.

There is some subjectivity to scouting. Scouts that have a good record with players would be seen as having valuable opinions. If it's all stats scouts wouldn't be necessary.

They are extremely far off.

All he has is p/60.

That’s is. He scores on the PP, bravo.

There is plenty plenty more to this. And Matthews kills his stats in the other areas.
