Tanns, i want what you're smoking if u think you'll get chucky 😂
I likes the yotes chances, they're definitely a wc chance team but if you look at our div, sans natural progression, no one really made big moves unlike other divs. Van could be a surprise team, Pettey, Horvat and Boeser as a progressing core plus the additions of Miller and Ferland could make them dangerous albeit its all goaltender dependant. Yotes are in a similar boat, they're progression dependant, but I like a lot of what I see there. If just one or 2 young guys explode on the scene next year, and they get a better streak of health they could make some noise, perhaps enough so to displace the sharks from the top 3. Love the sharks make up, but losing Pavs, Nyquist and Doonski is gonna sting, perhaps enough to knock them outta the top 3. Maybe I have rose colored glasses on but I see the Pacific title as a battle between Vegas and Calgary, with any of Arizona, Edmonton, San Jose and Van duking it out for that 3rd spot. I think the centrals gonna be a lot more wide open then you elluded to, too the point that Nash, col, dal and st lou are battling for the top 3 and win takes a step back (sorry jets fans, just calling em as I see em, ya lost two top 6 rh dman for a fringe top 6 dman).
If the yotes stay healthy and either Schmaltz or Keller find chemistry with Kessell they could be dangerous! Heres hoping, love the yotes make up and resilience |

I agree with the assessment.
I think the good news though is that outside the big three in the divison, there's a big drop off in talent. Lots of potential for for one of Vanc, Edm or Arz to grab a wild card spot, the right guys just need to take the next step forward.

Your blog reads a bit like you think the Avs are in the Pacific.
On topic.
Calgary should be a strong team but they did have some rather unsustainable stuff go their way. Giordano has to slow down eventually... right?
SJS is undeniably a worse team this year. Ditto Vegas.
So the Yotes have a decent chance to make it this year. Imo that third spot in the Pacific will be wide open. No wild cards tho. If a team in the Pacific wants to make it they need the #3 spot to do so.

Only if they land Patrick Kane in that trade |

Not unless they can get more consistency from their forwards. |

Have to think the Avs and Stars have as good a chance as anyone in the central to make the playoffs. This doesn't completely contradict your assessment, just weighs them a little more evenly in the mix. |

Say Jones 5vs5 svpct goes up a little towards his historic trends, the Sharks lost a lot of good players and more importantly depth. They lost depth, depth that was exposed a year ago.
I expect Dallas to be a much better team. I think their coach is going to be considered one of the best within a decade. He appears humble. That's a great quality in a coach. They added to their depth and lost an anchor player.
The Avs will be great but loading up two rookie dmen 9n a team rarely bodes well for consistency. The rest of the team must stay understanding in that and then they could perhaps overcome those inevitable breakdowns. I'm sure at times they will fly high.
The Coyotes have had bad starts the past few seasons, if I remember right. Avoiding those could be the difference. I don't rate the Oilers very high as currently composed. If they manage to add a winger or two that can score and fly, I'll change my mind a bit. |

Schmaltz might be the best player ever and it's not even close. |

No shot...absolutely zero chance!
Those 3,000 glendale faithful provably won’t care though.
That trade for their first for stephan and rangers back-up has to be one of the stupidest trades ever.
But apparently chayka is a boy wonder genius (who makes...what...250k as an nhl gm/floor mopper/popcorn cart guy).
Arizona is a complete joke ov a franchise!!! |

Nice analysis Tanner.
Starts in the Pacific and mentions Sharks, Flames, and Vegas.
Then adds Colorado is another rising team.
Then starts a new paragraph with "The other division..."
So clearly he thought Colorado belonged with the Pacific teams.
So why exactly would anyone pay attention to his playoff forecast when Tanner doesn't even know what division teams play in? Move along. Nothing to see here. Haha. |

A couple of guys here definitely have it right. All of the top Pacific teams from last year probably take a step back. I think it’s the most wide open division that there is. Even with LA and Anaheim I think there’s a chance for dominant goaltending whereas SJ looks primed to have some bad tending
Doesn’t it seem like not enough people are talking about how Winnipeg is poised to fall? There are some definite holes in that lineup
I watched a fair bit of Chicago last year. I think Bowman deserves a lot of credit for the moves he’s made |
