This move actually intrigues me. It would be interesting to see how he performs with Laine.

I am hearing that Laine lost 20 pounds this offseason. That means either one of two things: 1. He is absolutely going to tear it up, or 2. He is going to show flashes of what he potentially could be but never live up to the hype and become Evander Kane v 2.0!

Despite his poor season last year , I do think that good things are going to come from Laine this season , and that he is going to bet on himself with more cap-friendly a bridge deal. If given a choice of one Laine or Connor who signs the long term deal , I lean a little towards Connor right now ...because his deal might be more in the $7-8 MM area at most.

Connor shouldn’t be anywhere near 8!!! 6.5-6.9 tops!!!!!!
I’d honestly be happy to see some GM’s let these RFA’s miss a whole year rather than over pay

Roger - one fan argued Gardiner is as good as Trouba (and that Jets fan gave you reasons to make a case for it).

Third time around for you - Gardiner was leaf's #2 or 3 d, Trouba was Jets # 2or3 d and therefore comparable value to their respective teams.

There are question marks on the blueline of both leafs and Jets, of the two teams the Jets have more answers from depth to fill in the blanks left.

Trouba blows Gardiner away. It is a massive loss for the Jets.

I guess we will see but I am not losing any sleep over it. By the new year players will have settled in and the gap closed.
