We're all a little burnt out from that ridiculous Skinner contract, I'll give you a pass on this one. |

Hayes is overpaid by $1.75-2 million
Skinner is overpaid by about $600K - Stripes77
So which NHL team was giving him $10.28M per in FA ? |

I love your hypothetical here since you know it's impossible to answer.
He would have got $9 million per on the open market.
The Sabres paid an extra year to keep you know a 40 goal scorer on their team. Give it a rest dude. |

Seriously though, after I announced the prudent financial decision to buy a 50th jersey from dhgate com, some one said that they got a sabres jersey and an Allen for $40. So I went and ordered an Allen and had the choice between NFL and NFL 100.
What is the difference? I plan on wearing it to the game vs the redskins (racist) and my skinner jersey the day before at the game vs the islanders. Got club seats for that.
I also plan on buying a pair of bills Zubaz pants. |

NFL 100 would have the NFL's 100th anniversary logo on it, I presume. |

I for one celebrated us signing Okposo. I’m sure Canucks fans were thrilled they got a 30 goal scorer in Loui Ericsson. Oilers fans got much needed truculence in Lucic for their top 6. Leafs fans celebrated signing Clarkson. Rangers won the Shattenkirk derby. Flames got James Neal.
Sure none of them scored 40 goals in their contract year like Skinner did. But celebrating a long term deal and bashing me for saying we may have been better off letting him walk is very premature. |

Hard not to notice the common theme that they are below average skaters.
The only thing I'll slam the 'let Skinner walk' crowd for is if they want to spend that 9m on other long term UFA's. I'll take my chances with Skinner over any other viable option.

None of those players are even remotely similar to Skinner in terms of anything except goal scoring. He is a phenomenal skater compared to them, elusive... I mean I'm not even trying with you anymore. You literally just compared Skinner to Shattenkirk. |

Are you basing that off of coach Ks comments? Bc he said his job is to coach players under contract with the team right now. Not the strongest indicator. |

Quotes not working but jcrag...
I would trade Risto for Laine 1f1 10/10 times and not think twice.
You have to outscore the other team to win in the modern NHL.
Look at the last few winners... All of them have elite scoring talent at the top. Of the last 11 Stanley Cup winners, 3 teams have won a combined 8 times and they all had ELITE scoring abilities and hot goaltending. Chicago, Pittsburgh and LA. And of the other 3 teams left, you could argue only Boston and St. Louis did it on solid, overall team play but even then, Hot goaltending played a huge factor.
Washington is the other team and we don't need to say how elite of a scorer they have.
Would Winnipeg do a 1f1? I think we might have to add a Sheary and a pick to this deal, but I say Risto, Sheary and a 2nd or 3rd gets it done and I have no issues adding a ONE DIMENSIONAL GOAL SCORER to this team. - BeadyEyedDouche
You grab Laine if you can because you can easily find someone else to do a mediocre job on defense.

No it’s the basic premise of spending crazy money on July 1st. Replace Shattenkirk with 80% of the players signed on this day over the course of time and it still applies. If Skinner is one of the 20% of the July 1st signings that actually pays off we’ll see when the time comes. |

More on Ristolainen from John Wawrow:
Well, I can't go as far as saying there's an expectation it will happen because so many things have to line up.
So there's hope that things will for a trade to materialize.
Getting the sense things might be beyond fixable, and a change of scenery might be the best and only option left for both sides. |

What did Drury do in New York exactly ? He sure didn’t live up to that deal. Briere on the other hand stung. He was one of the FA that panned out. Both were bought out by their respective teams though if I’m not mistaken.
Maybe in the new CBA we’ll get thrown a get out of jail free card and be able to get out of the Okposo contract and the last couple of years of the Skinner deal when that time comes. |
