Tyler great article as always. I think your breakdown is about as close to perfection as can be.
What made the hawksmof the past great was , crisp passing , stretch passes , clean breakouts and constant pressure in the offensize zone.
It's hard to say how this group will ultimately pan out, however on paper Chicago vastly improved defensively, depth and overall talent.
I think it's possible those numbers you posted could go even higher
Adding 20 to 30 more goals from their forward group
And 10 from their defenseman.
Just curious on your take , if boqvist shows in training camp he is ready, who does Stan in your opinion trade ? Would they trade Gus just to maybe improve their depth youth wise say a Jesse pulv.if he is still on the block ? |

It's just an IT fact that 90% (or so) of bugs target the non-Mac world. It largely mirrors market share. So definitely its been safer.
I use Mac's Safari browser, outside of some distracting popups ads on the side, I don't have browser issues others are noting.
Regarding how good the hawks actually were from January onward (top 10 team record wise) and St. L. showing the possibilities (worst record in league in January to cup champs), it makes me wonder if the hawks are actually a sleeping dark horse that few analysts are considering as playoff impact team. Current ones I've seen only put them as #5 or #6 in division (with caveat of saying the division has many good teams.
I know chemistry is hard to measure before it actually occurs, but if the hawks do have that teamwork chemistry, it sure seems to me this is a #3 or #4 team in the division. - DontKnowNutin
I agree. I think chicago on paper has vastly improved and I would put them fighting for 1st in the central with Colorado.
St Louis is questionable along with Dallas. Nashville and Winnipeg I don't see them as the dominant teams this year.
San Jose and Vegas would be the next 2 major teams.

Another element was defensive support by the forwards. If this year's team can bring all those elements you listed plus forward support to the ice consistently, then this team is a playoff team and not of the "one and done" variety.

Tyler can obviously answer for himself but thought I'd take a stab at addressing your question. I would say yes to trading Gustafsson for high draft picks and/or prospects, especially if he duplicates last year's output.
I would not, though, aim for Puljujarvi but a young player with better potential. If you want a player like Puljujarvi, he can likely be had for a cheaper return. |

Serious question, anyone else here run into "computer issues" when visiting this site. I get virus warnings of various types here that lock up my computer temporarily Anyone ?? - BobP.
It might be the massive amount of pop ups on here. I pay the $20 a year to be a "season ticket holder" pretty much just to not have the pop ups. I use FireFox and Chrome on different computers and on my phone and have never had an issue.

Good question.
I honestly don't think Boqvist will be 100% NHL ready in a couple months. Also, there's no need to rush him - especially when you have Gustafsson on the roster right now.
If... if I'm wrong and Boqvist is simply lights out and they can't send him down, I think the Hawks will keep Gustafsson for a while. While it would be hard to envision both on them on the same team, the Hawks do have the benefit of defensive-first additions, Maatta and de Haan to pair these guys with.
If it looks like Boqvist can keep up with the big boys full-time, then maybe Stan pulls the trigger on trading Gus.

Tyler, what do you think is the likely return on Gus? lets assume he is traded at the deadline and is having a solid season

If it is at the deadline and he is putting up points like he did last year, you are gong to get a 1st round pick for him and maybe a prospect. Prices get crazy inflated around that time and to acquire a point producing blueliner is very costly. Just imagine if his defense is even adequate (in which case it would be difficult to see them move him...). |
