I'm cool with playoffs talk & all that, because it has me excited. I'm ready to raise another cup just as much as the next guy. I hate being a buyer at the deadline, because that means good bye potential future player. Price tags on players are way high. I can't think of 1 young player we have stashed away, unsigned or otherwise, that I would want to part with & still have value that will garner a great return. I'd rather not lose a first round pick. Plus, I don't want to screw up some of our boys who will need new contracts.

Sure, you got to give to get, some of our guys haven't played an NHL game to judge potential, the draft is a crapshoot, & it's all at the chance for a cup. Yeah, I get all that, but this is the first time that the cubbards aren't empty. But this is all hypothetical talk anyways. I'm fine with keeping Gus & letting him walk later.

Unfortunately, if history is any indication, there will more than likely be a few of these players moved. Looking simply at the volume of players you have at certain positions and their expected timelines, there is a high probability that Stan moves one or two to strengthen the team playing at that time.

Stan has done it in the past and will do it again (almost all GM's do). They just have to maximize the players' abilities that are still here and make sure that they don't mortgage the future too much in the name of "going for it". The next few years are going to be really interesting to watch from that perspective.

Fantasy forward point projections for 2019-20

https://www.nhl.com/news/...c-290800452?tid=277729150

Kane - 100
Debrincat - 78
Strome - 69
Toews - 65
Shaw - 45

Looks like Shaw was missed, or they think he'll get less than 40 point, which is probably accurate.

Looks like Saad was missed, if Kane gets 100 and is playing on the same line as Toews, he gets more than 65.

What if the only teams willing and able to trade for Gus at the deadline are in the West?
- rpeters01

Would not deter me. But no trade if the trade is not good enough.

I want a #1 2020. Not 2021. Not anything else in trade unless swapping out also extra parts neither team cares too much about surrendering.

So what?

Make the best deal you can (if you decide there is a deal to be made) and worry about your own team.

- StLBravesFan

If you're out of it ok, if you're trying to get in it doesn't work and even if you're in do you really want to face him on the Western side of the playoffs assuming the only thing you got for him are picks?

Probably not, good point. Toews will be the 4C, rotating with Quenneville, Kampf and Carpenter.

2 guys who will never come across the pond. Barratt ahead of Mitchell? Yeah, no. Nylander? IDK if he even a prospect anymore at this point. He might fall under the salvage department.

Also, surprised Shalunov isn't on the list. lol

Only one who played at the Rock last year is Carlsson. Interesting that Kurashev wasn't mentioned.

Kurashev would be higher on my list than Barratt, Nylander, Nordgren, Kayumov and Carlsson. Probably Beaudin, too.

It would not totally shock me if Kurashev won the spot at 3C. Provided Dach isn't ready.

He is never coming over to play in the NHL. The guy has to be 75 by now.

I've never understood that reasoning.

There are 30 (soon to be 31) other teams in the league. What do you care what ANY of them do if you're in the business of improving YOUR team?

Yeah, I know. I'd just rather wait & see how they develop than give up too early for rental. I'm excited for this season & the next few years as players start to come up for more than a cup of coffee.

He wasn't necessarily great throughout the playoffs, but he had a particularly good series against SJS.

He was good enough and most importantly...he wasn't Huet.

- HawkintheD

That was a hell of a save he made after Philly had tied it up to get game to OT.

Might have been the best save he ever made in a Hawks uni!
