I believe we went through this once before. NHL and NFL are just completely different ball games. Percentage of where picks come from in the league and everything are just very different.

It is, and the NFL offers them at the end of the 3rd round. I think there has to be more balance between 4 1st round picks and a 3rd round pick. I'd also like to see compensation for UFA's.

I'd say if there was more compensation teams would try harder. I'd be more willing to trade a 1st & 2nd for a rental if I knew I was getting that 2nd pick back ( kind of ) if i didn't re-sign him.

One of those things that might work in the favour of some but not others. Baseball has the same sort of compensation.

I think it works for them because there are so many more players to choose from. Baseball has 40 rounds or some crazy poop. Football only has 7 rounds but again you have like 18000 players to choose from or something vs probably 500-600 for hockey.

I like that Jarmo went for it and think it did pay off. They've drafted and developed very well and could afford to take a chance.

Another 1 million plus winner today at the PG casino, 2 in a month unbelievable.

Media keeps saying all other free agents are waiting for the Marner deal. Well Toronto's strategy at this point is to wait it out, file their LTIR when the season starts and then sign Marner. So anyone waiting for Marner is more or less content with their player missing camp altogether. This would be a horrible idea for the Canucks.
