i think he had to be feeling a bit of the pressure. i didnt realize the canucks have never missed the playoffs 5 years in a row so it would be a terrible look if he set the new record for playoff drought so miller happned

It was a chance to make his team better and in the future making that trade.

What are the Wild going to do with 6 more years of Parise and Suter! They are both in their mid 30s already. After Luongo retiring and seeing the cap recapture. Wild are (frank)ing Screwed. Those two are in negative value already.

not disagreeing. i like miller a lot and the timing seems right to acquire him

only observing that setting a franchise record for missing the playoffs while trying to remain competitive/preaching playoffs isnt good optics and might come with a little added pressure

parise had a pretty good year last year but their decline will be steep and ugly very soon

I always think actions speak louder than words. Everything he has done has been for the future good of this team. Mistakes will be made. Only Gorton and Dubas are immune.

He did and even if he doesn't decline. Imagine paying a 40 year old 7.5 per season.

and they changed their course part way through his tenure. there is context obviously to the situation but it wont change the record book which is what most will remember/see years down the road

Yup

Praise already has well documented back issues so that one will be easy to pass, and Suter, I believe, had ankle surgery.

Luongo had groin issues, no? I wonder if the Panthers/Lu could’ve agreed to take a fringe prospect or late pick for Lu just so the Canucks could LTIR him.

I thought it was Lou who said if he couldn't play anymore that he was the one who wanted to retire.

Too bad FA is a fake Italian multi-millionaire

A real one would have someone “discuss” things with Lu and his family and potentially get him to change his mind

I think it's a good extension overall. The term doesnt give him immunity, he can be fired at any time, but it gives him a vote of confidence, which I'm good with. I'm not a hater of benning or a pom pommer, I form a new opinion with each individual move, and what he did this summer is something I can 100% get behind. Hes had a heck of a summer imo. The team is ready to compete.

My uncle called him an A-hole. Said that when he worked for the Gov. that they investigated him twice for tax fraud.

I bet that's why there's no plans for Lou to get his jersey retired. FA is probably mad about the cap recapture.

Tax fraud by those of companies is like jaywalking for pedestrians, they almost all do it. It's just how much you try to get away with that can (frank) you over.

I'm not a believer in the lame duck GM title. GM's are professionals. I also think that because of what Jim says in the media is a bit different than his overall plan.

I hope the team makes the playoffs this season. I'd like to see some post season hockey and Van not to pick at the draft in MTL.

Too many amazing players in this draft according to DCT.

I dont think DCT is wrong. I'm no scout, but from a few prospect guys I follow and who have done early prospect articles, it seems to be a deep draft

I bet he didn't know that was a cigarette in his hand also. He congratulated her on the Caps win so I am guessing he knew exactly who she was.
