Not if he takes the bonus 11th spot on the practice squad that is only available to the international pathway players. From that article:
"Wade can be signed to the Bills' practice squad as an 11th, roster-exempt player. If that happens, he is ineligible to be activated by the Bills for the the entire season, and also ineligible to sign with another team for the entire season"
They can also assign him as a regular player which would allow him to play this year, but would also expose him to waivers - jcragcrumple
He has to clear waivers first.
If he clears waivers and is not claimed by another team:
Wade is eligible to sign-on as one of 10 players on any team’s practice squad, including the Bills' practice squad. In that case, he would be eligible to be activated at any point during the season, or be signed by another club to their 53-man roster. All practice squad players in the league are essentially free agents, free to sign with any team, but must be placed immediate on that team’s 53-man roster if that happens.
Wade can be signed to the Bills' practice squad as an 11th, roster-exempt player. If that happens, he is ineligible to be activated by the Bills for the the entire season, and also ineligible to sign with another team for the entire season.
Those are two paths they can take, IF he clears waivers. |

I can see top 10, but 5 is pushing it for me. I'd have to look again, but I believe Broncos have one of the toughest schedules in the league. Have to play the Chiefs and Chargers twice obviously, that hurts.
They lack the depth that the Rams, Chargers, Bears and Vikings have.
I don't know. I just can't see them being top 5 given their schedule coupled with the potential for a lackluster offense. I think they'd need the perfect storm to get there. - RhinoFan
Very fair assessment. Time will tell I guess. It didn’t help having the Phil Housley of the NFL (Vance Joseph) leading the team last year. At the very least it will come close. |

Yeah, but why just sneak in the playoffs?
Isnt it better to suck until you're really a contender?
Or is that just hockey?
You also need a franchise centre, flacco isnt the short or long term answer. - Boss34
The Broncos defence isn’t getting any younger. Acquiring Flacco is our attempt to go for it while we still can. The Sabres are on the other end of the spectrum, this heat should be the push for relevancy. |

No he doesn't. This is more clear from the BN:
"The Bills also have the option of using an exempt, 11th spot on their practice squad for Wade. If the team and player take this option, Wade is locked into the commitment for a year. He would not be eligible to be promoted to the 53-man roster, and no other team could sign him away from the Bills’ practice squad."

There was some disagreement on that yesterday. The waivers bit. |

Pommer was useless last year. He did t hustle into corners or battled. He’s not even worth vet minimum. His “leadership” was BS. He just skated by and collected a paycheck - Sabretooth9

Sal Capaccio and the BN have both said that the international pathway practice squad option bypasses the waiver requirement. They may be wrong, but that's what's being reported
3. He can clear waivers. At that point, Wade would then be a free agent, eligible to sign to any NFL team’s 10-man practice squad, including with the Bills. He would be eligible to be promoted to the 53-man roster, or signed to another team’s 53-man roster, if this were to happen.
4. The Bills also have the option of using an exempt, 11th spot on their practice squad for Wade. If the team and player take this option, Wade is locked into the commitment for a year. He would not be eligible to be promoted to the 53-man roster, and no other team could sign him away from the Bills’ practice squad. |

There's no mention of waivers there though.
Once he's on the squad as an exempt player he can't be signed, but he still has to go through waivers to get there. |

See above. Only option 3 requires waivers according to everything I've read and heard on the radio |

You are not reading the article correctly.
Yeah, they can use the exempt status, IF he clears waivers.
Look at the GR article again. There are TWO CLEARLY BULLETED POINTS UNDER the part that reads: If he clears waivers and is not claimed by another team:
One of the bullet points is that any team can sign him to their practice squad, including Buffalo, etc etc.
The next point (it's bulleted because it ties in with the "waiver" sentence) is that the Bills can use the exempt status.
You're not getting it because you're not comprehending it clearly.
He has to clear waivers. It's black and white. |

It's vague.
There is no mention of not having to go through waivers when everything else says he does which leads me to believe he has to clear waivers first to be exempt, but I don't know nearly enough about it. |

Ok, well the BN article is saying that option 4 bypasses option 3 and includes no mention of waivers. If that is not right, then it isn't right. That's what's being reported.

Here is a clearer explanation for you:
IF PLACED ON THE BILLS’ PRACTICE SQUAD USING THE 11TH INTERNATIONAL SPOT, CAN WADE PLAY THIS SEASON?
No. If Wade clears waivers (JCrag, this is the important part 😉) and is put on the practice squad as the Bills’ 11th member he cannot suit up for the Bills in 2019.

Ok, ok, ok, dammit! Listen, I was going off of the reporting that made it seem like the 11th spot was a waiver exemption
Some fans on social media thought that Wade would automatically be placed on the Bills’ practice squad if he was released during roster cuts. That is not the case. Wade has to clear waivers before being placed on Buffalo’s practice squad.
Thanks tim Graham for making me look like an bumhole. I blame the media and accept no personal responsibility, as is permissible in our time |

😂😂😂 Well said.
There's no one that wanted it to be more true than me, that they could just put the "hands off, b!tches" tag on him, but that's not the case, unfortunately.

It's sort of the case. Teams sign guys from other team's practice squads all the time. The Bills just did a couple years ago with the WR from Chicago whose name is currently escaping me. So having a guy on the squad who is exempt from being signed is nice. |

It's a rarity to win the superbowl without a top qb.
It has been done, though.

Of course. No skills ever.
I am pointing out the sky falls every day for everyone. The Sabres should fold and the fan base should take up knitting.

Do you really think if our core was aging that I would have been satisfied with the ship sinking and gaining Cozens to boot ? The average age of our core is what 23 ? Take Skinner out and the average age is 21-22. The sky is the limit for this organization.
In regards to the Broncos, the AFC West should be the best division in football this year. It will be a bloodbath. |
