expecting all that needs doing in one or two offseasons is unreasonable.

I was reading this MSN article and I thought of this board when I saw that pic. Black & green olives, everyone's favorite.

This board comes down to

A) I'm skeptical or don't believe he's done enough
1) He's trying to tank
2) He should be on the hot seat because this is unacceptable

B) He's not done yet and people need to give him more time because of the devoid lack of depth thankyouforyourservicetimmurray left behind

Has anyone else seen these value charts on Marcus Davidsson?

He's #15 per Pronman, but I've seen him discussed as a top 5 prospect for us. I thought he had a down year this year, so can't argue either way, just curious on what we thought.

- RhinoFan

The Sean Tierney value charts are garbage. And the DBTB droids are sucking its Richard.

There's my thoughts.

I've seen a chart where not only is Johan Larsson a forward AND a defenseman, he's also slated as 0% chance to make an NHL roster.

So, what the (frank) ever. Samuelsson is low ranked because of his lack of offense. Borgen is similar, for the same reason. Yet both project to be bottom 4 dmen the can separate players from the puck and get rid of it.

Cut whatever grain of salt you want to use with some of these charts, in half.

The simple fact is, too many people take a singular chart waaaay over the top and try to define players by one singular facet and it's really (frank)ing annoying.

This is #3.

Teams turn it around in one year all the time. Three years is like...the most anyone ever gets to make the playoffs.

Start using an NHL standard to critique the organization and not a Buffalo one.

There is only 1 NHL gm who has been in his current job for at least 3 seasons and not made the playoffs - Chayka

yeah teams turn everything around in 1 year all the time.

Get real.

Every team, every situation is different. And most teams that have largely failed at drafting over a 10-15 year span like the Sabres have don't typically "turn it around in 1 year".

Come now.

To be honest, that's what I'd hoped I'd hear. The rankings that those charts come up with are so backwards from what I've read and think myself, was hoping others had seen. After a down year, having Davidsson as our 2nd or 3rd best forward, ahead of guys like Olofsson, seemed...well...wrong.

The whole thing can be summed up like this:

GMTM traded 2 1st round picks and a 2nd round pick in the same damn draft

Botts traded 3rd rounders and 1 2nd rounder (to get Jeff Skinner)

Time to move the hell on here please

- Stripes77

Botterill could've easily added 2 veteran players at this draft, but instead he moved up in the mid rounds. He got Vesey for a 3rd, I'm sure he could've gotten 2 pending UFA vets instead of throwing them away to move up. So he gets a player for now AND the future, but instead scatters the picks to the four winds. I don't even want to get into the 6th for a future, worse 6th and trigger Homie.

I'm not saying he sucks, and I don't give a single flying (frank) about "prospect rankings" because of the myriad reasons already stated, but people are on their knees for this guy and he definitely has Murrayesque tendencies. There's no reason to trade a young guy and a first for a slightly older, more developed guy unless you're trying to speed things up. And moving up outside the top 10 is a fool's errand; if you think you know something that 30 other teams don't, you're a fool.

I'm sorry, but "not Tim Murray" is a mighty low bar to set.

I got roped into a PPR fantasy football league this year with a $100 buy-in. I haven't played fantasy football in years. Draft's tomorrow. I pick 4th.

Let's get this out of the way. The answer to the question "What were you thinking?" is "I don't know".

Having done little research or following players, I am thinking of using the ADP calculator as a guide. Is that smart or dumb?

- buffalofan19

Smart, just make sure the guy isn't hurt long term/suspended when you see someone falling. Take flyers on 3rd year WRs in the mid to later rounds, or draft a bit higher guys that are already good. Juju could be a good pick, if he's there and the guys ahead of him have been drafted, no AB, 111 receptions last year, and it's his 3rd year, that could be huge.

Seriously? Why wouldn’t you trade a prospect who may never be an nhl regular for a guy who already is. We needed nhl talent now not 4 years from now, it’s noy like Montour is 30 years old and is over the hill. For a gm that came into the mess botts did with the complete lack of trade pieces and roster depth, the fact that he has managed to stock our prospect cupboard again, re-make the defence all in the span of two full seasons, imo is nothing short of miraculous.
People want to sh!it on the idea of a good prospect system, but that’s one of the most important facets of building a continuous winning team.
So if a gm moves from pick 22 to say pick 11 that’s a fools errand? That makes no logical sense whatsoever.

I meant to do some research over the weekend, but sitting on a beach at a cottage seemed more fun.

Pop over to Wegmans and pick up an issue of "Fantasy Football Index", it's got a pic of Barkley on the cover. I actually saw them at the registers last night for the first time. I think fantasy is finally mainstream; I mean that's vital Cosmo, People, and US space they're taking up.

Colorado- Traded away the cancer that was ROR (this is for my entertainment purposes) and got Rantanen. This team was rebuilding for a long time prior (1 playoff appearance in the previous 7 years). This team is going to be good for a long time if their goaltending holds up

New Jersey-turned into a lotto team after 1 season after stealing Taylor Hall (damn it Chirelli)

Realistic is more like it

I would have liked to see a Risto trade for a top 6 winger but other than that there has been solid pieces added to this roster

The subtraction piece is still something I am waiting for as well

Have you considered the alternative to the bolded above, which is you think Guhle is nothing and Montour will still improve, while allowing you to move Ristolainen for an impact forward, such as Ondrej Kase, for example?

If any of the players turn out to be quality that he moved up to get in the lower rounds, it was the right decision his part. The results are what matters.

You are WAY overboard with the people being on their knees comment about Botterill.

Apparently talks have been ongoing and the Ducks are trying to get Buffalo to take a bad contract in return with Kase for Rsitolainen, and they discussed Ristolainen for Montour before that trade ended up being what it was.

Interesting

But I wouldn't want another bad contract on the books, and not to mention they are currently over the damn cap
