He should be fired if we finish 31st. IDGAF what his draft record looks like.

I'm not convinced he's done retooling this team to move on from some seriously underwhelming players, but there is no possible way the talent on this team equates to 31st.

- TheSabresTaco

When is it time for the players to stand up and be accountable though?
If the talent level us good enough but they collectively under deliver, you fire the GM, or get rid of the bad apples.
I vote to rid the team of underperformers, and that should be where the heat and CV pressure is placed...squarely on the players.

I agree I just don’t think we’ve reached critical mass in terms of talent prior to this year. Now I think we’re a 2C away - depending on the development curve for the new D corps.

Genuine question. What’s CV pressure?

Realistic is more like it

I would have liked to see a Risto trade for a top 6 winger but other than that there has been solid pieces added to this roster

The subtraction piece is still something I am waiting for as well

You say he sucks. How the F are you getting a great return?

This board comes down to

A) I'm skeptical or don't believe he's done enough
1) He's trying to tank
2) He should be on the hot seat because this is unacceptable

B) He's not done yet and people need to give him more time because of the devoid lack of depth thankyouforyourservicetimmurray left behind

- TheSabresTaco

This board is filled its a bunch of unrealistic, rotisserie, fantasy, make it happen unreasonable- ness.

Let’s all condemn prior to anything happening.

Botterill could've easily added 2 veteran players at this draft, but instead he moved up in the mid rounds. He got Vesey for a 3rd, I'm sure he could've gotten 2 pending UFA vets instead of throwing them away to move up. So he gets a player for now AND the future, but instead scatters the picks to the four winds. I don't even want to get into the 6th for a future, worse 6th and trigger Homie.

I'm not saying he sucks, and I don't give a single flying (frank) about "prospect rankings" because of the myriad reasons already stated, but people are on their knees for this guy and he definitely has Murrayesque tendencies. There's no reason to trade a young guy and a first for a slightly older, more developed guy unless you're trying to speed things up. And moving up outside the top 10 is a fool's errand; if you think you know something that 30 other teams don't, you're a fool.

I'm sorry, but "not Tim Murray" is a mighty low bar to set.

Colorado- Traded away the cancer that was ROR (this is for my entertainment purposes) and got Rantanen. This team was rebuilding for a long time prior (1 playoff appearance in the previous 7 years). This team is going to be good for a long time if their goaltending holds up

New Jersey-turned into a lotto team after 1 season after stealing Taylor Hall (damn it Chirelli)

The Sabres suck. Always have been, always will. Forget Dahlin, Jack, Rhino etc - we have nothing but crap in our starting line up and in the farm system. Botts is an idiot. His MBA from Michigan is fake news. We have no talent and Skinner is overpaid by $3 million per year.

My prediction is that there will be a flurry of Activity in the weeks leading into and just after camp opens, once some RFA finally relents and sets the market. Everybody is hesitating to go first in an undefined market. Once one signs and establishes the rate, that will define a bunch of teams’ abilities to deal with the cap implications, and lead to signings and deals etc.

Until that happens, this place will be a sh!thole country.

You can not compare guhle and Hedman, they aren’t even on the same planet, just because botts acquires nhl ready talent doesn’t mean he’s trying to fast track the rebuild, he is simply adding qualified nhl players to his roster at the expense of unproven talent, the reason you make that trade is to get better, mountour>guhle.
Also I could also care less about some random prospect rankings, but it is very important to build a solid group of young players to replace vets on the big club.
I’m not sure what the last part of your post is about, I literally just took two random picks to illustrate why it’s good to trade up even outside the top 10.

- Sabres1523

I wasn't comparing them. I was saying even the best take time to come into their own. Like the dunces who freak out every time a guy goes 8 games without a goal... It happens even to Ovechkin.

I said it's stupid to move up outside of the top 10, so then you said 11.
