I would be very happy to bet this
In fact I’d bet he gets a raise from his current cap hit. - Santo_44
Re-read, not even sure why you would want to bet me about Gardiner when we were talking Ceci, either you bumped your melon or you had me mixed up with someone else you wanted to argue with |

Uhm.
Werenski and Anderson is not the same.....
What’s the difference between 1 and 2? Come on you got this. - Santo_44
1 is a d and neither of them are better than rantanen in a return for marner. |

I think Kap - Nylander and Johnsson are pretty good?
Of course JT helped Marner, and Marner helped JT set his goals record.
I think Matthews is a better player, but over the 3 years so far, it’s not by as much as some think.
I don’t like many contracts on many teams, so I’ll just stay out of the “who’s worth what” talk. - Garnie
Over 3 years?
Matthews was by far the superior player the first two years.
Marner was closer this season.
And about Matthews linemates...JVR offensively is superior than both of them by a decent margin. Bozak is meh.
But still that doesn’t answer my question...Apparently JVR/Bozak held back Marner. JVR....a first line player held him back.
But Matthews wasn’t held back playing with two similarly productive players combined.

Auston has a lot less support than John Tavares...IMHO - leafluver27
I guess, some in here think Hyman could be replaced with any 4th liner. 🤷🏻♂️
At least Matthews had Kap ( could be the fastest guy in the league ) and Johnsson who scored at the pace of a 1st liner.
Maybe Babs should have went AM - Marner vs that line - i don’t know, I just think it’s not the fairest to compare guys that faced different comp in this instance.

Yes.
Let’s look back.
I want to look back at this and see if Florida and the Leafs are battling for the last playoff spot.
I just took a screenshot.
In fact I’ll make a page on your predictions from today on. I’ll share it at the end of the season.
Please. Go on.
Tell us what you think Nylander will do this season? - Santo_44
Sounds great. Been done before, to others detriment. The fact that you are all excited is actually pretty awesome, and will be funny to se you jump through hoops trying to figure out why the Leafs aren't as good as you think. Again. Nylander will be his usual 20/60 with almost no hits, no grit and very little that actually matters.
Feel free to man up and give us all your predictions as well there big guy. |

Are you (frank)ing kidding? Mathews got one hell of a player friendly contract. He got the 2nd highest cap hit in the NHL and he only had to sign for 5 years. Stop pretending like Matthews took this team friendly deal. Is it a nice cap hit? Yes, but you only have 5 years of him at that and then he's a UFA. There's a really good chance he makes more than McDavid over those peak 8 years. - golfingsince
Is it a nice cap hit? Maybe. If he stays healthy yes. If he makes more than McDavid guys on here will call Dubas a genius for recognizing he's better than McDavid. |

I like JVR, don’t think he’s that great, except on the PP in front of the net he was money. Kind of miss that sum female dog!!! |

How dare you call it like it is. If Nylander is so special, but wait, now he isn;t because my argument, but he is because my argument. It's funny. |

That's arguable. It would be tough for me to say it was by far for either player. I still like Marner. - Zezel
Tampa Bay season ticket holder here, but a Leaf fan. I’d trade Marner for Point yesterday. Point skates elite. Plays defensively and scores 40 goals and shows up in playoffs despite the competition
Marner skates elite not a centre doesn’t score at an elite rate and went MIA vs boston in playoffs.
Mathews and Point better than Marner. Enjoy the cheese and chocolate in Switzerland
Hope leafs play hardball I hope. |

Nope, dont hate. Did at 1 time, always said he improved. Just dont jump on "hes elite because of his corsi" train.
You need to take notes so you can remember who says what

he was the number 1 draft pick in the 16 draft and touted as the next generational talent and backed it up by spending his entire entry level contract as a goal machine and leafs best player. a negotiation was had between he and the leafs and an agreement was reached. the leafs have done the same with marner whose production was not quite the same as matthews, and here we are 2 weeks from training camp and he's still not signed a deal. |

Marner went MIA vs Bergeron / Marchand?
Where did Point go against CBJ?

Johnson tailed off big time. Kappy skates like the wind and shoots lots of pucks at the goalie or off in the corner. I love both players but not first line players. Do I need to name all the players that Tavares made rich in New York. Tavares carried the islanders by himself. Barzal while a great player took a step back and couldn’t carry team. Tavares is special |

Im not arguing that JT's not special.
The end
We could plug and play different stats all night to favor DISCUSSIONS, but im going to rock some beers and dream about the Leafs hoisting the cup instead |

Point plays against second rate comp. He's awesome, but it's hard to say what would happen if he was the number one guy. |
