alot of our fans sound like know it all twats instead letting the teams play on the ice tell the story of what this years team is. apparantely it's more important to sound pompous instead of being patient.

JT is 29 when the season starts, so I wouldn't really expect him to improve......especially without Marner.

I would have spent/saved the money for elsewhere.

The thing is, the RFA landscape changed drastically over the past year. I think the Leafs had a plan, and the rug got pulled out from under them a bit with what RFA's are getting paid. Thanks to Draisaitl and Eichel for this.

The only reason I hate the Matthews signing is I believe he will leave in 5 years. I have never had the feeling he had any sort of desire to play here. The money and term though, he was going to get somewhere else via offersheet. I believe at least 2 teams would have given up the 4 firsts to get him. Thank God he is at least signed or we would be going through BOTH Marner and Matthews now.

So far, at least, I don't see any horribly regrettable contracts on the Leafs... not like Hayes, or Skinner-esque deals.

its easy to say in theory but in reality its not that simple. if you dont sign JT youre likely to have two average players under contract. perhaps a Gardner extention. love the JT signing all day.

Ditto on the JT signing. Leafs are a cap team, adding scoring talent and paying for it is so much better than over paying for middle of the road jabronis like Okposo, Haynes, Kessler, Backes and Eriksson to name a few.
