We really don't know if there's any bad blood brewing. For all we know they could be close to a deal but are waiting for LTIR to go online. Until this is resolved, or isn't, speculation serves for nothing except chatter.

Well we dont know the second half is actually true

I'd really like to propose a split into 2 leafs forums on here - in order for HOHO, Aardvark, Bixll, Santo, Roger and a few others can go on continue with the insults and ignorant remarks, but just between themselves; and the other forum just a normal interaction forum where people can share their opinions and views on hockey, leafs and other stuff without the constant bickering and insults.

You ever heard of the CBA? Qualifying offers/arbitration for RFAs?
By all reports they offered the guy 8 x $10.5M...hardly a slap in the face. Marner, his Dad and Agent are the ones creating the bad blood. No one else is stepping up and offering him what he wants - by all means forego $10M with term to make $450K in Swiss francs for the year. If that's his only leverage it's laughable.

leafs didn't have a choice but to pay him.......he was given his qualifying offer by Ottawa, then traded to the leafs, then he accepted his qualifying offer.

had he been acquired before he was given his QO, than the leafs could have just dumped him by not giving him a qualifying offer. he was never going to make less than that amount, unless the leafs offered him a longer term deal for less AAV (which they were obviously never going to do)....on a 1 year deal, there was zero chance of getting him at less than that because he was an RFA

They'll announce Marner's contract the day they can put Horton and Wendel Clarkson on LTIR, whenever that is, I don't even know. What I do know is today is Pizza Day.
