what? they count ahl players salaries on the cap now? - LeafnsNxt2Godlyns
They always have.
You get a little bit of a discount - it rises every year, but to do simple math, knock $1 million off the salary. The rest counts against the cap. |

I taped the series on my VCR. Just watching them now, so don't spoil it for me.
But I just watched Game 1, and Zezel scored in OT, so I'm confident that the Leafs can keep the momentum going and whip your crap team's asses. |

Again, not saying he is a bad player just not the caliber of nylander.
Komarov scores 19 goals and leafs let him walk.
You can find those types of players in free agency. You don’t find a nylander very often. - bryant
nylander is barely a 60 point, 20 goal scorer, if he's more he hasn't shown it yet. |

Man but Brown sure has lit it up.
You're talking up Brown, and by comparison saying Nylander is barely a 60pt player. You have to include points from the past 3 seasons to get Brown to 60 pts. |

Weird that they won all the WCF that they played in 5 games. |

Connor Brown is impossible to hate but he's a 3rd or 4th liner for life. - TheMussel
I do not share your opinion of him. Wasn't he the scoring leader of OHL one year.
He's a cap casualty. |

He had a solid 2013-2014, which coincidently, was his final eligible year of Juniors. He had a pretty good line mate in Erie that year too. I forget his name... |

started in 2013 cba:
Question: What happens when a player on a one-way NHL contract is demoted to the minor leagues?
Under the 2013 CBA, teams no longer receive full cap relief when demoting a player on a one-way NHL contract to the American Hockey League (or loaning him to a team in another professional league). The AAV (Average Annual Value, aka cap hit) less the sum of the minimum NHL salary for that season plus $375,000 still counts against the Club’s cap total.
Summary Table for Calculation Purposes:
[Season]: [Minimum Salary] + $375,000 = Total that can be buried
2012-13: $525,000 + $375,000 = $900,000
2013-14: $550,000 + $375,000 = $925,000
2014-15: $550,000 + $375,000 = $925,000
2015-16: $575,000 + $375,000 = $950,000
2016-17: $575,000 + $375,000 = $950,000
2017-18: $650,000 + $375,000 = $1,025,000
2018-19: $650,000 + $375,000 = $1,025,000
2019-20: $700,000 + $375,000 = $1,075,000
2020-21: $700,000 + $375,000 = $1,075,000
2021-22: $750,000 + $375,000 = $1,125,000
Illustration:
The Chicago Blackhawks demote Bryan Bickell to the AHL during the 2015-16 season. Bickell carries a $4.0 million AAV. The Blackhawks would still have $3.05 million counting against their Averaged Club Salary total for the period Bickell is in the minors.
CBA Reference: 50.5 (d-i-B-6) Page 264
http://www.colliganhockey...do-buried-contracts-work/
so based on this if ceci gets sent to the marlies, the leafs would still be stuck with 3.425 million of ceci's cap hit for the rest of the season. only 1.075 million cap relief if sent down, ceci better be at least 3 million dollars useful to this team's blue line. |

I have no idea why people hate nylander so much.
Yes he had a poop year last year but he scored 61 points as 20 and 21 year old.
That puts him in rare company. |

McDavid did miss some time with injury that year, probably why Brown won the scoring title. |

yeah that was the year after his line mate left that he won the scoring title so
you know the guy who Edmonton picked 1st who wanted to be a Leafs.

connor brown had 20 and 14 goal seasons in a 3rd line capacity on the leafs deep roster. if you gave brown some of nylander's time and a 2nd line role (where he probably plays on marner's line), he'd score 20 no problem. probably a 20/50 guy like somebody else said and would only be 2.1 on your cap this season as opposed to 7 million and you could probably sign him to a cheaper extension than nylander's 7 million cap hit.
instead dubas said (frank) the advantage of these value contracts of kadri and brown, i need to keep future superstar william nylander for 7 million a year because he's a flashy name and matthews and all the TO girls and twinks love him. |

Cost him a trophy as well. |

it's called a salary cap. he also held out half of a season. the choice should have been between keep nylander or marner, with marner winning and keep more essential parts of the roster over keeping nylander for vanity sake. |

Not the case. McDavid broke his hand in November of 2014. Brown was no longer in junior that season. |

2013-14 Erie Otters:
McDavid GP 56, 28 G, 71 A 99 P
Brown GP 68, 45 G, 83 A 128 P
