Ask for a show of hands on here who watches sports on illegal steaming sites compared to 10 years ago. - Santo_44
Don't know. Thats the problem, no doubt it's increased, but impossible to quantify. |

There were hardly any. You are talking about post carer concussion issues, which is a true thing no doubt, but hits have the same impact, and star players have been and still are victim of that. If no one was educated about head injuries then they are wasting their time trying to sue. I don't want anyone injured, but a fighter knew what they were doing. Semenko said the Gretzky was why he got paid what he did and was the reason the league had money, so protecting him was the priority, thats why you almost never saw superstars fight in the 80's and 90's. But the league decided to take control of the vigilante justice and have been changing things ever since. During that process many star players have been run and injured in a way they didn't prior. It's cool people like what the league is doing, I have no control over that, but Wendall is the most beloved Leaf for a reason, he could play and he protected his teammates, now it's the ref, who doesn't seem to be doing a very good job. - aminnes
Sure, hits can cause these injuries.
Fighting isn’t hitting and fighting is something they could eliminate pretty easily.
And no, these players had no idea what they were getting into. None at all. They weren’t educated at all at what the precautions were.
And I’ll give you an example of one...my good friend has Post Concussion syndrome. It’s a horrible (frank)ing thing that debilitates you for a long time.
He went to a major health therapy clinic in Florida. Andrew Alberts was there the same week.
Look him up. His last concussion that did him in was a big blindside hit...but he had many concussions from fighting. He now has PCS and has had it for a year and a half.
He is not alone with this either. And he wish he was educated about it before he career. He said he would of never fought.

marner was given the opportunity to do so, who else has? - LeafnsNxt2Godlyns
This is gold
You are assuming there is someone out there that can score 94 points not in the NHL.
This is insanely dumb
And you have zero proof...you are just assuming. |

actually i think i said that a day or 2 or 3 ago, not today and i stand by it. mitch marner might be one of the best of canada's 1 percenters' kids to play hockey, but that don't mean much to me when 99% is untapped potential still out there not getting the opportunities he has been bestowed. there are tonnes of players out there that could school mitch marner easy, you must live in a bubble or something. - LeafnsNxt2Godlyns

I agree, what I'm saying is that if no one knew about head injuries then neither did the league. And if now we know, a grown ass man can decide for himself. Just like with the knowledge we now have, a grown ass man can decide to play linebacker in the NFL. And they still do. It's a risk reward situation. |

Marner is 6'
There's a perception out there that he is short.

you have had to be pretty dumb to not know that taking punches and hits to the head was bad for your brain. they were taking the risk knowing what the financial rewards were for doing it. that's why i call bullpoop on players not knowing. you knew, you just turned a blind eye to it for the money, then pretended like you didn't know it was bad for more money when your career was over. are people really this naive? |
