Highly unlikely.

31 management groups don't want a player that helps out a top 4?

You can be a Gardiner hater all you want but all 31 GMs don't all share your opinion.

But hey, lets bet. If you are right and no one wants him he will get like 1 million. Wanna bet that he gets more?

I say here are your 3 options

3 x 8
6 x 10
7 x 10.5

If you don't sign by x date (before training camp) these will be your options next year at this time. Have fun this winter.

Leafs want him at 6+ years, Mitch wants 5. Leafs can't have him and AM hit FA at the same time. Mitch says, that's your problem, not mine. This is literally the issue.

On one hand 8 x 10 would look pedestrian for a top 5 winger in 5 years, so I can see what MM is saying. Leafs need him to make that because they have given the big bucks away already.

Trade Nylander and end this dumbness.

- aminnes

You don’t trade a player as good as Nylander so you can overpay another. Marner will sign. Nylander will be on the team.

Kane and Kucherov are not comparables for Marner.

Kane was a UFA, his deal was signed years ago at a lower salary cap.

Kucherov's deal was signed at a lower salary cap also.

Aho is a center and scored 13-14% fewer points than Marner over their first three seasons and also last season. 94 > 82

You'd never get Seth Jones for Marner.

But yes, they should

LOL, my father bet me a six pack of tall boys that Gardiner will be on the Leafs. He thinks he will sign for 1 year at $2 million. Even after I showed him my spreadsheet of the salary structure and pointed out that we have only $3.5mil to spend on 5 players. These are 2 fourth line wingers and a 13th forward as well as a 6th and 7th D.

It ignores the fact that we will save about 250k from Hyman's injury and assumes Marner at $10.5.

He thinks nobody wants Gardiner because he is unsigned. I believe he is unsigned because teams aren't willing to give him term because of his back issues. He will probably sign a 1-2 year deal worth $5-$6 million

I think Mathews scored more with Kap than WN on average if I'm not mistaken.

Last year, yes. But in terms of historical precedent, no.

Last year Nylander sucked for the first month, and was snake bitten the rest.

I'm not adverse to trading Nylander, but I am completely adverse to trading him _now_. I am a believer in his abilities, and I think he is someone who should fetch equal to or above his initial value (8th overall pick) and if he is currently at less than that market value, you don't move him.

I don't know. I think it's a fair trade. One of the best young D in the game for one of the best young F in the game. It would only work if CLB were stacked on D otherwise they would never give up an elite D. Toronto is stacked like crazy up front, so they would potentially do this deal, but as a fan I'd rather keep my Mitchell.

Listen bumhole, you rambled, I didn't.

My specific argument (not including my constant disagreement with your daily idiocy) was that there is no evidence to suggest that Puljajarvi > Bracco.

Then you spent the rest of the day telling all of us how tall Puljajarvi was, all the time.

Oh, and for the record, me saying I don't like the deal (I don't), does not preclude me from believing that Edmonton would say no.

Consider yourself blessed that I would even respond to your derp. Most of the time I just laugh at you.

I think he will have a good year(70 points) and then be traded - but only because we need cap space for next years blueline.

Then why are you so upset that Marner won't sign?

You don't care about the players - including Marner. You just want to watch the logo on the front of the sweater.

If what you wrote above was true, you'd be just as happy watching Bullot out there, instead of Marner.

Except, you know, it greatly decreases your chances of seeing the Leafs in the playoffs.

Im not a fan and I wouldn’t mind seeing him back. Our D would be much better if his back is healthy, bumps Ceci to 3rd pair would be my guess

Hahahaha

U mad, bro?

I never said anything about who’s better, and certainly didn’t discuss player height. Put down the glue, Gluey McGlueface.

Bear in mind you have Nylander @ 6.9m x 5 years covering ages 23 - 28.

You trade that for Ryan Nugent - Hopkins @ 6m x 2 years covering ages 26-27. Is he the third line centre?

With this you trade the questionable Jeremy Bracco for the questionable Jesse Puljujarvi, except that Puljujarvi will need a contract in the $1.2m+ range . . .and won't be of any use unless he's in the top 6, which he wouldn't be - so you're actually paying more in cap hit for something you don't need and don't want for less time.

This is not to devalue RNH, he's a good player, but with only 2 years left on his contract, and the fact that he'd be a 3rd line centre making $6m, it's not an optimal deal.

this.

but i would say it's a bad deal to make in a salary cap league.
