Yeah, the Leafs don't want it. I'm just saying what the player should do, propose a totally reasonable 4 year deal. As a 26 year old UFA he should make it all back on the next deal.

The Leafs will still be able to retain him if they desire but it's going to cost. Then it makes his 5+ year proposals more palatable.

Dubas best moves of the spring/summer were locking up his lower cost RFA's. Those were the guys that would have been good/decent targets as UFA's.

Marner will sign at the beginning of camp.

Tyler Ennis could have put up 60 pts playing with Matthews. Nylander was dog-poop anywhere else in the lineup. They don’t need Nylander, at all. I think Dubas is coming to this realization. If he lets Marner sit, and the Leafs don’t get off to a hot start, Dubas is (frank)ed. Especially is Willy doesn’t get his swag back.

I have a feeling this could be a very interesting season. Some major changes could be on the horizon...

thanks to manufactured parity there are lots of good players out there making less money or willing to play for the cap space toronto has. marner can get traded for them no problem and so can nylander. time to nip this poop in the bud. they are good players but they're not the only ones, they're just the ones toronto drafted who have been unwilling to play fair ball.
