Hjalmarsson is such a warrior!

Non-Canucks fan here... I think Vancouver should have an interesting season. Not sure if they are playoff bound just yet but the Canucks should ice a competitive and entertaining team. Quinn certainly helps on the back-end but I think they still have some work to do.

It's a work in progress for sure. There's a lot of contracts to get rid of.

I was hoping the Hawks (my team) would draft Quinn, he’s the real deal. Chicago nabbed Boqvist, he appears to be a great pick too and potential top pairing d-man.

The steps are small but showing improvements. Expecting 5 more wins this year at the very least and hopefully around 91 points. Even if we miss the PO's by a bit all is heading in the right direction.

He's coming along nicely. Will he make the team?

I don’t even think they are that small, to be honest. Benning went full Neil Armstrong this summer. You can argue over the cost, or whether the players can meet expectations, but few hockey teams make as many significant changes in a single offseason as the Canucks just did.

Lots of Sportsnet panic and criticism because JB wouldnt promise the playoffs this season in his interview yesterday or was it the day before? Podcast.. The narrative evolved after only a couple of hours when I listened to a later segment. "He did all this and he doesnt think its a playoff team?".

JB is better off being vague like this.

Boqvist might get a cup of coffee with the Hawks this season, but I expect he’ll spend most (if not all) of the season in Rockford (AHL). Chicago’s management already decided he’s not going back to London. My guess is that Boqvist will be ready for full time NHL duty in 20/21.

He was a solid pick at #10, I would have taken Caufield but Pod should work out well.

V-pod over Caulfield all day long

Small players are less likely to make impact at the nhl level playing against full grown men.
Vs v-pod is 200 lbs at 17.

Perhaps I'll eat my words but I don't think Caulfield is very impressive. I liked kaliyev over him.

Canucks could of taken a lot of guys at 10 and I would of been happy. Boldy, Krebs, Newhook.

Caufield will be a sniper for sure, think Alex DeBrincat (maybe not as feisty).

Totally agree. I think we saw JB swinging for the fences with the moves he made. I have a feeling the players he got might not have been his first choice but he was going to be proactive no matter what.

I wonder if we will ever see that great rivalry between the nucks and hawks again? That was hell living through it but enjoyable to think back on.

We can't talk Sedin history without including Chicago's (and Boston's) impact on their playing careers.

Hard to believe we faced the hawks 3 straight years, almost losing 3 straight times. Showed how bad AV was getting schooled.

Yes, but one of those hawk teams was a Cup team; 09-10.

That 08-09 year we lost to them wasn't a big shocker. Hawks went on to lose to Detroit, who lost to Pittsburgh in the cup final.

Now feel free to blame AV for losing the cup final in 10-11 but losing those Blackhawk series isn't on AV.

Boqvist will be a 3Rd pairing offensive dman at best. Similar to Juolevi

Every year it was the same , win the 1st 2-3 games then after their coach makes his adjustments they go 3-4 wins with no answer by AV.
Yr 1 Canucks win games 1 & 2 hawks go 4 straight
Yr 2 canucks win games 1& 2 hawks go 4 straight
(At this point it's obvious AV learned nothing yet)
Yr canucks win games 1,2 & 3 hawks win next 3 and push game 7 to OT.

This is a pattern of coaching. AV gets schooled frequently .
Yr 3 AV threw his hands up in OT and handed it over to newel brown. The play worked thankfully

AV doesn't make changes it's why he gets schooled over n over. His record vs the hawks shows this
